This is the second year in a row in my area, the local Gamestops are telling customers that it's "the last year for 2K sports!!!" I just left gamestop, and the guy is telling me how EA has just bought 2k to make the Elite game and 2k11 will be the last one??? I laughed and walked out; will they tell anybody anything to get the preorder?? They did the same last year, they had a few of my friends really upset about 2k not coming out again. But last year they said that EA had bought the NBA sponsorship. This is "unprofessional" and I wonder if any of you guys have heard some stupid drivel at the Gamestops such as this.

Isn't it supposed to be the other way around??? Elite gets delayed and 2k will buy out the NBA license and take the monoply just like EA did to 2k with the NFL license.Comment

It's not a Gamestop thing, it is a retail thing. It is their job to hype up stuff and to get you to stay in the store longer for you can buy additional stuff. Marketing 101Comment

Yeah, most of the people who work at Gamestop (at least the ones by me) don't know jack about sports games, and frankly, don't like people that play sports games ("Everyone should play Fallout or Halo!"). It seems like I'm always given a condescending look whenever I pick up a sports game. So the fact they say stuff like that doesn't surprise me. LOL it is the opposite for me. Everybody out here play sports games and if they see you asking for Halo or Fallout they look at you and say ummm buying that game for your son or younger brother ?Comment

I know, that's why I thought it was funny that these guys were saying that, I wonder if that is coming from "higher up"?? I mean, them saying that, last year it was a different gamestop that I went to and they said that. And honestly, I would think that a story like that would make the news, and definitely blow a gasket on the internet, lol.Comment

makes me wonder if EA pays gamestop and tells them to have their employees bad mouth 2k to make EA look good. the whole thing sounds fishy...why would a bunch of random Gamestop employees just badmouth 2k for no reason?

I just left my local gamestop and the guy had nothing good to say about elite lol I guess not all are that bad, heck when I was staying in Phoenix last year the guys would look at you as if you was crazy if you wanted to buy NBA Live over 2K and I'm talking about the employees that worked there not customers lolComment

I had the opposite. The guy was laughing about Elite and talking to me about how crazy it was elite delayed there game so close to launch.

Somebody needs to report Gamestop for this, for the past 3-4 years, ive heard people say that gamestop employees are telling people that this is the last year for 2K basketball, and how EA sports is buying them out

Those gamestop droids get on my nerves, I remember one year me and a friend of mines went to go pick NBA2K8 or NBA2K9 and the gamestop employee said to use that, we should've bought NBA Live and how its much better than 2Kbasketball. Without hesitation my friend looked back at the employee as we started walking out the store and told the employee to shut the **** up and gone with that BS, and kept walking. I about died laughing when he did that. My friend is very passionate about 2K basketball.... anyway these gamestop employees are corny.
