Who's your favorite under the radar player?

We all wind up having a player or two that isn't rated that highly or even that well thought of in the actual NBA. But for some reason you're able to dominate with them through and through. For a lot of us a few years ago it was JR Smith. If he got hot, forget it. I'm interested in hearing who that player is for a lot of you in this years game.

For me, I was incredibly surprised when I rolled as the Pacers in a quick game and dropped 32 with Roy Hibbert. He had 12 second chance points for me and 8 offensive boards, 16 boards total. Also had 4 blocks. His length is pretty unbeatable and he's actually quite adept in the post. I figured my offense would run through Granger but it ran through Hibbert, to the point the CPU started sending double teams at him in the 2nd quarter.

So, who is your favorite overachiever?

For me, it would have to be Roddy B. from the Mavs. Kidd got into early foul trouble, so I subbed in Roddy B, and he lit up the court. His speed and outside shot make for a deadly combination.

Aaron Brooks. He's fast and a good shooter.

Sonny Weems, I dunno why but I can score a lot easier with him than most other higher rated players

Twill. Terrance Williams. I've dropped 30+ with him on hall of fame/sim. I got a few highlights saved also. Including one where I made Gerald Wallace fall off the crossover & hit the 3 after he fell. He's a beast.

Nate Robinson. Ray Allen got hurt, so he's been starting for me at the 2. Lights out from long range, averaging over 30 points for me. A bit undersized, so he gets outmuscled by bigger players, but he's a dynamic shooter.

Re: Who's your favorite under the radar player?

It's cool to see such variety in the answers.

To the poster that said Hibbert was like Yao in 2k10. You're absolutely right, his length is every bit as important, if not better, than his skill set. Makes for some easy offensive rebounds and putbacks.

The craziest thing about this game is how true to life everyone plays, whether you're playing as them or against them. A few nights ago I dropped 42 or 43 with CP3 and also dished out 18 assists. Which was great, I'd never been able to truly take over as him because in years past you didn't have the moves necessary to get small, quick point guards around defenders in the paint.

I just played a game as the Magic and D12's stat line was 32 points, 14 rebounds (5 offensive) 8 assists (passing out of double teams all night) and get this, 12 blocks. It was far and away the most dominant performance on both sides of the ball I've ever had with one player. Just insane. But at the same time it's very realistic because Dwight has put up those numbers before. I really just can't get over how they nailed that. I'm not sure how prevalent it is with non-superstars. But when you play with guys like Kobe, LeBron, Melo, D12, CP3. You really really can play just like them and end up with their true to life stats. Blows my mind, even a week after release.

Staying on topic, I also thought it would be interesting to ask you guys what under the radar player ends up shooting the lights out against you? Meaning CPU player.

The reason I thought of that was in the aforementioned game as the Magic I went up against the Bobcats @ Charlotte. I won by 14, but DJ Augustin went nuts. He broke Jameer Nelsons ankles at least 4 or 5 times. Got himself so many open shots it wasn't even funny. If Dwight hadn't gone mental with the blocks we would've lost just because of him. He ended up with 26 points and 9 assists. Whenever I get bored of quick games and start an association I'm really not looking forward to going up against him again.

I second the T. Williams pick. He's like a mini-LeBron. I put up 25, 5, and 5 with him. His shot is hot or cold, though.

Chris Kaman balls on me all the time. His mid-range, turn out of the post jumper is sweet. Plus, a great rebounder and passer out of the post.

A year ago i would have said Kevin Durant ha! but now I'm gonna go with Danilo Galinari. Picked him up in fantasy last year and his combo of 3's and boards led me to a title. I love tall foreign shooters, minus Peja Stojakavic. Other players would have be Troy Murphey of the Nets, also had him in fantasy. Aaron Brooks of the Rockets, i got to see him play in college and was amazed at his quickness.
