PC versions versus consoles (PS3 mainly)

Hey everyone, I've been playing the PC version of 2k11 since launch. I've been seeing videos online of the console version, and I don't know it seems like it looks more life-like in motion and even visuals. Any of you guys have any input on how they compare?

Also, I get crazy stuttering when I'm playing, seems more obvious in My Player mode but I get it in regular games as well.

I'm thinking about getting a PS3 tomorrow so I was considering picking up 2k11 for it since the PC patch is TBD.

I've played it a lot on the PC and PS3.

Visually, the PC is a lot better... This is at MAX settings / sweat patches etc all added. Basically, if you are able to play it at 1900 * 1600 type resoultions it looks incredible.

The drawback obviously is the PC is a lot smaller. In my case, my laptop has an 18.4 inch monitor which is fine for me and I like playing this way at the moment as I just had a baby and it's convenient late at night.

I don't get any stuttering on my laptop.

Basically, if you can run it on the PC maxed out...it looks a hell of a lot better.

If you want to play on a big TV...consoles are better.

I've also played it a bit on the 360...IMO the 360 and PC versions feel 'tighter'. The PS3 version was the only one I felt had sliding.

Just my opinion. Hope it helps

PS3 is thest way to go without a doubt. The graphics are the same as 360 with most games but the PS3 has more graphics potential(ex. Uncharted Killzone series)(Watch PS3 vs Xbox 360 on youtube), throw in a blu-ray player & internet brower & theres no need for that PC anymore.. I'm posting this reply with my PS3.. PS3 IS THE BEST.. Both PS3 & 360 have better graphics than PC unless you wanna buy an expensive PC just for the graphics card & even then it'll be equal lower than the PS3graph

I am sorry are you saying PS3 has better graphics than high end PC's? If so i really don't know what to say besides you have not seen high end PC's,as a matter of fact my mid level PC has better graphics than the PS3.

You can max out graphically nba2k11 even with a 8800gt.You don't need a high-end pc.Pc version with Ricoy's courts, photo mode tweak and Ricoy's HD global file is unbelievable with almost photorealistic gfx.

I don't know how that guy has come up with 'PS3 looks better than the PC' version...the PC version has a dramatically higher resolution. It simply looks a hell of a lot better.

However...it's obviously on a much smaller screen.

Re: PC versions versus consoles (PS3 mainly)

Aside from the patch issues and lack of care from 2K, the PC version is the way to go if your PC will give you the performance. These days you can hook your PC to your HDTV and use a gamepad just the same as a console. So the only real difference is the setup (installation, patching, etc.), the performance (if your PC is good enough to handle the game), and the visuals.

PC can be much better than consoles and not with anything really high end. I built a computer for my nephew last year at this time for $500 that can play 2K11 much better than a console can.

I will say this much though, PCs tend to be more quirky than consoles, probably because they're doing more with other applications at the same time. That's usually where you get the stuttering and odd performance issues. If you really don't want to bother with that and just be sure you get what you expect, get the PS3 version and play away.

Agree with this last part here 100%. A big part of console gaming is the convenience of it. You don't really have to worry about something not working, how different combinations of components & software may result in little nagging issues, or upgrading different parts of the console from time to time.

If you play offline for the most part, love detail and authenticity, and have a fairly modern PC, do yourself a favor a pick up the PC version. There are things that just can't be updated on the consoles because of patch limitations, NBA/Microsoft/Sony guidelines and really just a lack of time on VC's part because of the yearly cycle.

These limitations don't exist on the PC. That's basically all it comes down to.

And I haven't even touched on the full game mods that these guys put out. But that's for a different thread.

Yup agree PC version all the way, its far superior to the consoles imo. One of the best features for me is the community over at NBA-LIVE.com. The amount effort everyone puts in the mods is incredible and their work proves it. The lighting fixes, cyberfaces and court updates are bar none. I almost pulled the trigger for the ps3 version and I am so glad I did not.
