Re: clutch factor good or bad?

It keeps the game competitive. However, the default settings has it favoring the CPU far more than the user and so, I personally put it down to 20 to keep the possibility of a run in the 3rd/4th quarter in tact, but not as frequent.

The bad thing about clutch factor is that if it's too high and the CPU goes on a x-0 run you may feel 'cheated' out of a win but the good thing is, as mentioned above, it allows the game to be more competitive and allow runs to occur in vital moments.

I turn it off and the sliders to 0. Only problem is the CPU still catches up every game, so my games are always close or I get beat. I see no point in having it on since the game still cheats. I've seen the ball go through my players, blocked shots still go in the basket when they shouldn't, and kinds of stupid things happening.

I still wish we could get a definitive answer on what "clutch" really is because I've heard two explanations:

1 (not fair): keeps games close, and CPU might go on an unbelievable run

2 (fair): players like Jordan, Kobe, etc, take over games in the 4th quarter to preserve wins because they are "clutch" players

        So...which is it really?

Since the patchI have not noticed the AI unrealistic runs. I have always turned it down from 35 to 10. I left it at Default sim (35) and I have been very happy with it.

I have yet to experience the clutch factor working against me. I've had it work for me. It matters to me when I do an association because if I see a guy who is mr. clutch it makes me want him more. Fi it says that he isn't clutch, screw that guy i want no part of him. I drafted a guy who had the highest clutch rating I've ever seen and in the first game I played with him, he scored the last 10 points of the game including the game tying and game winning 3. Clutch matters to me and I don't feel that it should be ignored and written off as cheating. I've never had a mediocre player take over the 4th.

I think there's a difference between a players Clutch Rating vs. Clutch Factor.

I'd say bad. I'm probably gonna have to lower the factor before my next association game. Last game the CPU made a 20-4 run in the 3rd which really put me out of the game.

I don't think a dev has ever confirmed what it does or doesn't do.

Most of the things you hear about it are urban legend. One guy makes a statement and everybody just follows and spreads the same thing. I see it happen a ton on the MLB forums, it's hard for people to get a full understanding of what every single slider does and how it affects gameplay exactly.

There's no evidence that it's a "stay close or cheat" setting. The CPU makes runs regardless. The NBA is all about runs, and 2k11 represents it pretty good.

I've played 20 games with Clutch Factor ON and then OFF and I can't notice a single difference.

Similarly, i don't think there's much difference with the Clutch Rating either. The star players are equally good at any point of the game.

the 3rd quarter runs are pretty much gone from what I've seen, the last time it happened to me my 78 overall team was playing the heat and we held wade and bron to a combined 9 points in the first half, I knew what was coming. OH and it did

I keep it off. For no reason should my Celtics be blowing a 20-point lead to the friggin' 76ers or Timberwolves.

Why are 3rd quarter runs an issue? Do you care if it's a 2nd quarter run? 4th quarter run?

Do you get upset when you make a big run or is it just when the CPU does it that people complain about? I get the feeling if you made a big 16-4 run to tie the game, you would be pumped. But when the CPU does it, it's cheating.

It's part of the game in real life.

Just browsing today's scores, Atlanta outscored Toronto 25-11 in the 3rd quarter, San Antonio outscored New Orleans 28-16 in the 3rd quarter, and Utah outscored the Clippers 27-14. Maybe they should read these forums so they can not make runs next time

On and at 35 for both cpu and human.

                              No issues at all.
