Re: HOW TO build a team?
Probably C or PF. You could dominate the paint. Once you have a good C or PF find some good outside shooters. -
Re: HOW TO build a team?
I was all about the perimeter until I played with randolph and holy lord. I have thus fallen in love with the inside game. for me a good center and I'm all set, but each piece work in conjunction with the other. if I could have a good center and a good outside shooter when my center gets doubled I'd be in heaven. It really is a matter of play style.Comment

Re: HOW TO build a team?
yea definetely this. i play a more fast-paced style, so i like to build around a guard or sometimes small forward. my most succesful associations have been like this:
PG Quick, passing pg
SG Outside shooter
SF Stud(KD)
PF Physical, defensive
C Rebounding, defensiveComment

Re: HOW TO build a team?
I had an insanely fast team in one association and we would put up 120 when I played routinely, but my sf and sg were draft pick all stars. one was a second team all nba as a rookieComment

It depends on more of your style then what other people do.
I always build around a pg. Im not a great post player in 2k. Ive learned over the past few weeks that I can't have just any pg either. Im a big Westbrook and Rondo fan but they don't fit my system as well as say Steph Curry.Comment

Re: HOW TO build a team?
I think you just stick with the BPA (best player available) theory and build your team around the best player available, or already on your team. Of course, identifying the BPA is another thing in itself.
Trying to build your team around a C has been the demise of many a franchise (check the NBA draft history site).Originally posted by Fabian Avenarius Lloyd[...] a man of subtlety or refinement is almost always nothing but an idiot.Comment

Re: HOW TO build a team?
I like to build around a pass-first PG [e.g. Rondo] with a 3pt specialist at SG [must be decent defensively], a bulky enough SF w/80+ 3pt rating who can guard Lebron & Melo, PF with ability to drain 20 footers, and a C who is a masterful rebounder [e.g. Noah]. I rely on getting 8-11 3's a game because i'm not great with scoring big men, my PG & C more often than not get the least amount of points.Lakers | Michigan | DodgersComment

I got to agree with Da Amba Lamps (lmao @ name), it really is more of style over best players available.
Personally, I prefer to build around a PF since I find them being the easiest players to build a team around now-a-days.
Players like K.G., Jianlian, Hawkes, Dirk Nowitzi, Rashad Lewis, Stoudemire, LaMarcus Aldridge are all good/great examples of PFs to build around. Not only their good in the box for rebounding, they also have range, which only means one thing, "OPEN LANES!!"Comment

PG because there are only a few GREAT PG's. plus the offense is run through them.Comment

Re: HOW TO build a team?
I like to build around a young stud SF who can ideally go SG or PF when needed. To me, versatility is key. When I get hit with injuries or want to bring in additional talent, moving my star into a new position is important.
Rudy Gay, Kevin Durant, Danny Granger, LBJ, and Carmel Anthony come to mind.
Next, I like to secure the paint with a strong C/PF. Somebody who will rebound is key. Al Horford would be my ideal choice....dude is a versatile monster.
I'm not too worried about securing an A+ point guard because I feel like there's an abundance of good players at this position. Finding a versatile SF is rare and getting a strong big man is even more rare.
Next, as I fill out the roster, I make sure I have some gunners off the bench who can drain 3's. Mike Miller, Anthony Morrow, Kyle Korver, etc.
And for the rest, talent, defense, and medium range shooting skills.
And that would be how I build my team. You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.
