To accurately discuss this, you should turn on the shot feedback graphic in your settings.
Now, with all that out of the way... there are few things that I really want to create a discussion on:
1. "GOOD" timing window with a shooter. I've noticed some shooters seem to have a larger "good" timing window vs. others. What are your thoughts about this? Obviously, the varying jumper animations would have to have their timings set manually by a developer but I think some allow for shooters to be more successful than others due to user input vs. ratings. Deron Williams is a perfect example. Admittedly, I love playing with him because it seems like my shot timing is taken more into account than with other players. Could it be he has a larger "good" timing window than other players?
2. Varying shot release points. If you spend a decent amount of time in practice mode, you will eventually see the feedback graphic is not 100% consistent. This can be caused by a poor implementation of this graphic and its relation to the actual timing window (in other words it's inaccurate) or changing release windows. And by this, I'd focus solely on flat jumpshots. I've noticed the timing a bit off when a player catches the ball on the move and goes straight up vs. just being stationary and going straight up. If this is a theory put in place by 2k to represent set shots vs. catch and shoot, the lack of varying jumpshot animations hurt it since you see the same shooting stride yet will have varying degrees of possible success.
3. Inaccurate wrist releases compared to shot timings. This should be pretty self-explanatory. It seems to me that some players don't have "good" timing with releases that coincide with when they flick their wrist. Has this been something you've experienced?
Overall, it seems to me that this area of the game needs to get a lookover for 2k12. I know I can't be the only one who has experienced this. I've seen it in leagues - people trading players just because of their shot releases. Hell, no one wants to pick up Shawn Marion just because of his shot. I'm sure you can add others who have timing windows that are seemingly so small they become worthless (Note - I feel like I should add some disclaimer about Matrix. I know he isn't exactly the best example of a "shooter" so please understand my point is solely related to timing through user input and its impact on a player).
Thoughts?

.....we need some kind of explanation !!!!!
