Why is Offensive Rebounding and Why Does 2K Refuse To Fix It?

I don't get it. It was already hard to get an o-reb against the cpu last year and in previous versions and its even worse this year. Especially after the latest patch, it's practically impossible. I played 10 association games with the Bulls(best offensive rebounding team in NBA) and I could hardly get 5 a game. Jakim Noah almost averages 5 by himself in real life. I've put all the sliders all the way up, put crash boards all the way up but nothing works. I can't even count the number of times I've seen some 6'1" guard rip the ball outta Noah's hands. Or Noah having the ball go right through his hands. It's pretty ridiculous and I dont understand why 2k does it this way.

Box out and position yourself better.

I agree with the repliers....rebounding actually feels really good, and the players actually box out.

Re: Why is Offensive Rebounding and Why Does 2K Refuse To Fix It?

Come on guys, if you haven't noticed that offensive rebounding is broken against the computer then you must be playing another game. I play 12 minute quarters with the Bulls and barely get 5 or 6, and this is with all the sliders at 100. You guys are telling me I'm that bad at this game? I intentionnaly throw up shots when I see a man in position to grab the rebound, and the ball either goes right through his hands or some 6 foot guard goes over him to snatch it from him. And the cpu never gets a good amount of offensive boards against me either, they get more than me, but I've never seen them get over 10....again on 12 minute quarters. I know I'm not the only one seeing this, I've seen numerous threads about this. But I just don't understand wht 2K won't address it, or at least give an explanaition as to why its like this.

Honestly, I feel as though I sometimes get too many offensive rebounds in a game. But more often than not, it feels just about right. And, I am not saying you are bad at the game, because you are likely better than me.

Try sticking with one player. I play 6min quarters with my player PF and avg ~6 OFF reb a game. Its all about position and timing. Even with a 60 off reb rating

Rebounding feels good, but its lop-sided towards the defensive-side

teams often get as many as 15-20 offensive boards in a game... never on 2k11

About 9-11 off rebs would be the average.

Just lower inside shot success until you get acceptable results.

it's because DR > OR even if you put OR at 100 and DR at 0 you'll still get more DR's than OR's. One solution for this is to edit EACH AND EVERY PLAYERs DR attribute so the max will just be 50, while the OR max is at 100.

i can grab rebounds(3orpg) just fine

if im able to do it with my 6'3'' all-around PG...i dont see how it would be such a trouble for taller PF's/C's

im averaging 12.9rpg and im 61 games into my second season

if anything...rebounding is much easier after the patch...not harder...

yeah i get that...but bosh, james, and ilgauskas still gets around 1 or 2 offensive rebounds per game on my team...that's like 6-9orpg when you combine my player's effort

granted they come off of tips and putback dunks but offensive rebounds nonetheless

6-9 is HALF the AVERAGE. NBA teams average about 15-21 OR a game.

EDIT: please stop talking about rebounds in my player, this is about people who play Association and the such.

Um you're wrong...The HIGHEST average offensive rebounding per game is 14.2 right now. Making the range 7.7 ORB's - 14.2 ORB's per game. The average team overall being around 10.9 offensive rebounds per game. No way in hell is the average 15-21 per game, I'm sorry.

To the original poster, if you're getting 5-6 offensive rebounds per game that means you're only 2-3 short of the league's lowest average (in real life). It sounds like you're just not boxing out or not positioning correctly. Also, when the majority of the replies state that rebounding feels good, saying rebounding is broken is unnecessary lol.
