    Dunking

are dunks random or are there different trick combinations like if im playing street fighter to do different dunks? I keep doing the same crap.

And what about the dunk packages and signature dunks. should both be chosen or only one or the other? ive tried different combinations but nothing seems to work for what I want.

Dunks are really separated into 4 categories, and within those the dunks are random.

It's in the book - Push the shot stick towards the basket, straight dunk, left for flashy, right to hang on the rim and behind for either a reverse or a spin dunk.

If you have the stats, spin the stick around in a circle for a 360° dunk

The signature dunks are more likely to be flashy, so try going to practice and make sure you push the stick to the left of the hoop, keeping in mind that you're only going to see the best dunks when you've got no one close to you... Just like in real life it's pretty rare to see flashy dunks when you need to avoid defenders at the same time.

What he said except for spinning the stick. You can pull off all of the 360 dunks just by push left of the rim at the right spot on the court. The strange thing about 360 dunks is that you can select the dunk package of J.Rich or J.R. smith long before you can assign them to signature dunks.
Oh yeah and signature dunks take precedence over dunk package dunks. So, for example, if you choose Lebron James package and have all the 360 dunks as your signature dunks. When you take off from a spot that would have Lebron doing a 1 handed tomahawk and is a good spot for a 360 you will do the 360.

Shoot, I was under the impression that pressing left on the shot stick initiated a hop-step dunk, not a flashy one. I thought pressing toward the hoop would initiate a normal/signature slam.

this. just remember that if you for some reason fill in all 10 of those signature dunks and you're looking to do the 360...it might be a bit harder to do since it's so flooded with signature moves like windmills and tomahawks...

How do you do the sig. dunks if you are a guy who uses the shot button (square for PS3). I tried using the right stick but it is just too awkward to do. So I usually am pressing R2 with my rt middle finger and square with my thumb as I drive to do a dunk, but rarely get the sig dunks. Is it possible with just the square?

you are correct. The Flashy dunk category is gone in 2k11

I think they want you to use the right stick. Its not bad if you only use it for Dunking or layups, its only annoying for jump shots (IMO). Practice first and youll get the dunks down before you know it.

The shot button works just as well in these cases. I'm a "button" shooter myself, though mysteriously, I often (but not always) change to the right stick for dunks and layups.

To pull off specific types of layups and dunks while using the shot button, the left stick becomes your guide. For instance, to pull of a "rim-hanging" dunk using the right stick, the user would simply press the right analog stick to the right of the rim. To pull off a rim-hanging dunk using the shot button (square on PS3), you would have to press the LEFT analog stick to the right of the rim just before pressing the shot button.

In your situation, to provoke a possible "signature" dunk, you'd want to make sure the left analog stick is pointed straight at the rim before takeoff. Again, I believe pressing toward the rim provides a normal/generic/signature dunk, so it won't necessarily be signature every single time.

It can be a little tricky pulling off all the different dunk types on demand while using the shot button (the timing must be more precise, as pressing to the right too early with the left analog stick may result in your play physically dribbling away from the basket before takeoff) but it certainly can be done. I think I completed most of the Jordan Challenge in that fashion.

I've been playing black ops for the longest time so just recently patched my game up and have noticed a huge difference when driving to the hoop. My players seem to do more lay ups instead of attempting dunks. I'm pretty sure I'm holding the turbo button while attempting. Anyone else have this issue? It's just frustrating when my defender is somewhat behind me and his teammate is around the hoop but not directly in front of me and I go soft to the rim instead of going all out and end up missing.

Do you have a dunk package? This was never a problem for me on my SF when I had Dominique's dunk package. The dunks were flippin' awesome.

I have all the sig ones off, but have J richardson's package I believe. Up on the stick is a sick 1 handed throw down, back on the stick is a 360 dunk and so forth, soooo sick.
