Just got the game: What's with all the interceptions?

I just got this game for christmas and I am already about to trade this game in strictly because i can't stand all the interceptions.

I can see passes getting intercepted when they're thrown by the likes of joakim noah or shaq, but i'm getting just as many INTs as i am when i throw with guys like Nash, rose, or lebron. it doesn't matter how good the passer is, they can rarely do a pass without it getting intercepted or tipped.

Forget about fast breaks because somebody who has there back turned to the ball and has no idea you're even throwing a pass is going to either tip it, or catch it and ruin any shot of a nice fastbreak play.

Now i realize i'm new to the game, so is there something i'm missing here? a slider i can maybe adjust to at least tone down the passing to a normal level?

Maybe i need to give it more time, but i think i might just be content with my NBA live 10 updated rosters.

It's because you're not making good passes and playing the angles.

You really have to work the ball around and not try forcing the ball into the passing lanes as the a.i will be quick to take the ball away. If you are having alot of trouble you can tweak the sliders to help it out.

There's definitely an adjustment period, Pat. The way we played basketball in real life vs. the way we played ball in a video game has always been vastly different. That remains so this year, but to a lesser extent. One of the areas 2K has attempted to shore up is the prior ability to thread needles with pinpoint passes and swinging the ball across the court and back at will.

In my case, it was just a conscious adjustment I had to make over the first few weeks I had the game. I did not change any sliders in this regard. Rather, I just learned to make higher percentage "video game" passes. In many cases, this meant making one extra pass; going from A to B to C, rather than just the A to C. I'm confident in suggesting that this aspect of the game is one you may warm up to in the first few weeks of ownership.

This right here. You have to play basketball not the basketball video games of the past. You will get the hang of it but it will take time. As 1 poster mentioned if it becomes unbearable just lower passing lanes down some.

If you play this game like past versions, you will not win a game. You have to get all your old 2k habits out your system.

this but also the defense reacts way to fast to passes and the game always makes you throw the worst possible passes like when they throw the ball into the defenders back instead of lobbing it over teh top.

The CPU players have eyes on the back of their heads. All they have to do is throw a hand up to deflect your pass without even looking. I watched a few replays and that's the conclusion I've come up with. But to cut down the turnovers, you can adjust/lower the CPU sliders for Hands and Play passing lanes. Also, use the total control passing whenever you can. You're still going to have stupid turnovers here and there, but at least it's somewhat realistic after the adjustments.

there's a steep learning curve on this game, so you have to be patient. it's a whole nother game than 2k9, the AI is much smarter. game is a lot more realistic. just ask for help on these forums when you're stuck with something, a lotta helpful pple on these boards and this thread has some good advice. just dont rush things when ur playing. the video that was posted here is a big help, make sure to watch that

also i'd recommend sliders, i always use sliders. 2k has way too many flaws for me to play w/o them. i'm using jd's sliders and they've been really good, works on all difficulty and quarter length. i use 10min quarters on all star/superstar. hof is a joke i wouldnt recommend it unless you want the computer to cheat every single second.
