      Re: Triangle Offense

I play with the '96 Bulls and from what I've seen and posted (I could be wrong though), the Triangle represented in the game isn't what Chicago ran in the '90s. My advice would have been to watch it on tv to become familiar with it, but why do that if what you see on tv isn't in the game. Like I said though, I could be wrong.

Correct...the tri offense is not really represented in the game.

And that's messed up too. I used to watch and record Bulls games from the '90s so I knew the triangle up and down--even taught it to my AAU team and that's what we ran sometimes. I even overheard a ref say "Nice Play!" after we ran one of the sets. Would have been nice to have it in the game.

Use icon lead passing to lead players coming off of screens and popping out.

The Lakers offense is tough to run in 2K in my opinion, I think if you spend the time looking for some money plays in their playbook you'll find something good.

A true triangle offense will probably almost never be represented in a video game. Too complex as there are no set plays only reads out of sets. The ever changing or reading nature of it would be a nightmare for average gamers... LOL

2's version of the triangle set plays are the closest but there static so it's not going to look like on tv...

Besides 12 island, what are the best plays in the lakers playbook.

Not entirely true. I know people have said this for years--even Phil Jackson--but there are set plays out of the triangle. People used to say, "You don't just go down there and run it; you have to read the defense and react to what the defensive players are doing." However you can run set plays out of it. If someone matched up against a tri offense in a zone, then yeah--it would be difficult to call a play beforehand. But if you know someone is playing man-to-man, then you actually can run a set play.

I think that's one of the main misconceptions about basketball, along with people not knowing you can jump in the air on defense and draw a charge--without the offensive player hitting you with his free arm.

One of the 90's LIVE's had a very good Triangle Playbook for the Bulls. It was super elaborate, but effective when applied. It was sorta Triangle for Dummies, but was a nice departure from other playbooks.

Theres actually a few plays that replicate the Triangle to a tee.. just cant run them the EXACT same way that the diagram displays.. My entire offense is built around the triangle, here is what I have my plays set as...

                            PG
                            TWOLVES FLEX 2 - 13 UP OPTION
                            91 BULLS TRI - 21 CORNER CURL
                            TRIANGLE 8 - 21 UP
                            TRIANGLE 3 - 41 UP 2

                            SG
                            96 BULLS TRI 1 - 12 REVERSE POWER
                            96 BULLS TRI 4 - 13 QUICK UP
                            TRIANGLE 7 - 23 PIN
                            TWOLVES HORN - 53 ROLL

                            SF
                            96 BULLS TRI 4 - 13 QUICK UP
