    Making trades more thought provoking

I think 2k should consider putting a bigger impact on roster trades.

One idea that just came to me was the amount of time it actually takes for a trade to be presented, developed, and followed through.

Maybe 2k should make the trade market a little more drawn out. Like make it to where it takes 1 or 2 days for Team A to get feedback from Team B. Then as Team B mulls over the proposed trade (depending on how equal or unequal it is), they send back other possibilites for the trade....which could also take 1 day or 2.

This would in turn then allow the media to blow it out of proportion and let the proposed player(s) hear about it and affect team chemistry as well as his morale.

This also will actually make the user take more consideration and time as far as adding the right players or picks into the draft deal.

Another hypothetical path would if the trade talks died out, now the user has to take into consideration the proposed players morale...does he want to be traded now? is he going to test free agency now? etc. I think the amount of time regarding the proposed trade should really affect the morale of player and his future with the team he's on.

I think I'll post this in the Madden forum too. I'm really curious to see what people think about this.

    Thoughts?

I 100% agree with you man. With the current trade system you can trade your whole roster in one day if you wanted to and that's not realistic at all. FIFA 11 has implemented a transfer system which makes you negotiate with the players team before you can negotiate with the player himself. Also it pops up with a news story on the home screen if you bid for a player on another team. Obviously the trading system is different in the NBA but as you suggested it could be added to the Association next year hopefully. Good post man.

This was in NBA Live 2005 and it was great. Cheesed me off a little bit but it all made sense and made it more realistic. I hope 2K takes the time to make this happen. In relation to the media blowing it out of proportion, I would like to see interviews for the players who are rumored to be included like there is for My Player Mode, just a couple of things that would be fantastic to see in the next game. Great idea bud.

lol there's no hiding the fact that the melo fiasco was attributed to this idea. It honestly popped in my head about 20 minutes after I took some Nyquil because of a terrible cold I was having lol. Good to know that everyone else feels the same way about this idea. Maybe there's some way we can get 2k attention on this topic??? I know it's a long shot and all but it doesn't hurt to try. I know Ian Cummings comes on OS from time to time, do we have anyone from the realms of 2k who does the same?

We'll probably start to see more of them as 2K gets closer to the release date of 2K12. Until then, you can always try contacting Ronnie2K here and suggest the idea, he can get in direct contact with them if he likes the idea.

In relation to the whole Melo thing. I love this idea but maybe the higher profile the players involved are, the more it is drawn out?

Great idea! Depending on the star power of a player in question; should ultimately determine how much impact it has on team chemistry and how long the trade is drawn out.
Would make association even better and add to the realism.

Ex.: The Nets talked about everyone but Brooke Lopez in the Melo deal.. in turn taking longer to complete and making a huge impact on team chemistry. However, a trade for a guy like OJ Mayo, Troy Murphy or Rip Hamilton should have less impact on team's chemistry and take less time to complete.

Yeah, this is similar to how PES does it as well. In fact, in PES you first open negotiations with the player you are after and if he's interested then you keep talking and improving the deal, etc.

It's of course a little easier in soccer since players are usually not traded.
