    PC vs. Console???

which has better gameflow & playability. I've played Live on the pc in years past & didn't seem to play as well or as smoothly as the 360 or ps3.
i've been playing 2k11 on 360 but thinking about getting it for the pc for the shoe options. crazy right? i know but i'm a sneakerfreak & need something else to dive into! lol
Thanks & i apologize if this question is in another thread. i searched & found nothing.

    Re: PC vs. Console???

i play on PC w/ a 360 controller and i guess it would depend on your rig and what your specs are. I have an older rig (been 3-4 yrs since i built it) and it runs smoothly. granted i turned down alot of the settings b/c of my older system specs. (arena, crowd, antialiasing)

i would imagine a relative newer rig could run it pretty smoothly and look nice

      Re: PC vs. Console???

I prefer it on the console(PS3). But that is just me! I have been playing game with the PS style controller since 96' and I just cant hold a microsoft controller for more than a few minutes, just does not feel right.
I have NBA 2k11 for PS3 and PC. I love the fact that I can DL mods for it on the pc, update player cyberfaces, but the game and logitech controller I have for it dont get along. I can't perform any spin move with, so I stick to the PS3

        Re: PC vs. Console???

I've played 2K since Dreamcast, and loved every minute of it. For the last three years I've played mainly on PC. For 2K9 and 2K10 I played both the 360 version and the PC version, at least one full 82 game season on each, and never really noticed any differences in gameplay. The differences are so subtle it's not an issue. For this year, 2K11, I've played exclusively on the PC and absolutely love it. I say exclusively because I've only played a handful of games on the 360 at a friends house, and it feels exactly the same. Plus when he comes over and I hook my rig up to the HDTV and we play 2K11 here, he can't tell the difference either. So both of us have no problem switching from one version to the other, and he's never been a PC gamer.

It's far superior to the console versions if nothing more than for custom mods, such as courts, uniforms, shoes, proper adds, accurate jumbotrons, classic teams and players, etc... The list goes on and on, and on... Even the base graphics are superior to the looks of the console versions, straight out of he box. I see tons of people mentioning the accuracy, or rather inaccuracy of courts (every court is inaccurate in some way), uniforms, players, etc... Well this is not an issue for the PC version, it's been fixed by us users. The PC has been, and always will be, superior when it comes to graphics and customization.

So I say if you have a capable PC go grab yourself one of THESE and your good to go. Or if you prefer PlayStation controllers there are plenty of adapters out there for PS controllers. Just avoid generic brands completely and you'll be fine.

I'd say the only drawback to the PC version, and most PC sports games, is there are less folks playing online. So if online is your favorite mode then you may want to just stick with the console version. However since I'm an Association freak, on all sports games, I prefer PC over consoles for my sports gaming, and all other gaming as well. There is just so much more freedom and custom content available that makes PC gaming better in my opinion. Now I'm not hating on consoles in anyway, I love the hell outta them too and have played/owned them all, dating back to the Commodore 64 (Technically a computer, I know), but I much prefer the PC for gaming. So don't turn this into a fanboy war...

EDIT* Just go take a look at NLSC -- Mods Releases and Previews for some ideas of what's available. You'll get lost for hours...

Plus the PC version is less than half the price for twice the game. (After mods.)

Should only be $20 in stores now,it's still $30 on Steam though.

I have NBA 2K11 for both PC and 360, lets just say I will be trading in the 360 version for Fight Night come Friday. IMO, its not even close in comparison. Like someone said, it you have a good rig or have the funds to upgrade, I'd say do it. I thought I was addicted to 2K on the 360, the PC version just took it to another level.

                  Re: PC vs. Console???

Well, the console version will always come first and foremost for 2K. The patches were released way before the PC version, and with the PC version, you never know when it is going to crash or whether your gaming rig is powerful or even too powerful(some people get stutters with top of the line systems) to play the game.

Also, the PC version doesn't have the great sound quality that the console versions do. When playing the 2K11 demo, I can hear the commentators in the center channel and a nice environment of sound around me. On the PC version, it's quite different and feels less immersive to me.

The only two things the PC version has over the console version are the price and the mods. You will be sacrificing smoother online play, or even any online play at all when the 2K PC servers go down. Also, the PC version only uses low quality models and textures when played online this year. 2K sais it's a bug, but it's something that could have been fixed easily and should have been looked into a long time ago, so I think it's something else, but that is a whole other discussion.

So, if you prefer single player to multiplayer, have a computer that can run it(or are willing to fork out a couple hundred to a thousand dollars to get one that can), would like to spend less money buying the game, are willing to wait until February for a patch, really like to customize the game with updated player models, faces, accessories, jerseys, shoes, courts, and lighting schemes, and are willing to sacrifice the ease of use and integration with leagues and friends through the console system, then by all means get the PC version.

                    Re: PC vs. Console???

I have both the PS3 and PC versions and I actually prefer the PC version. What I like about the PC version are the mods and customization. For example, the Seattle Sonics are in my franchise replacing the Oklahoma City Thunder and have their 2007 jerseys instead of the 1996-97 versions that came with the Jordan Challenge. The court logo and graphics are the 2007 versions as well which adds to my gaming experience.

Also, for me the PC is actually more convenient for me since I have small children and do not get a chance to use the PS3 and TV until they are in bed for the night. Then my Wife wants to watch a TV or a movie so I may not get use of the PS3 until 10PM or 11PM.

I have an XPS GEN gaming laptop and the game runs relatively smooth on it. I will be taking my PS3 version of the game back next week to Gamestop and apply the subsequent credit towards a purchase of MLB The Show.

I am with you 100 percent. I have the game on 360 right now. But I'm a realistic freak. Wether it's the shoes, the accessories, jerseys...everything..for me it's gotta be just like real life. This Friday I'm grabbing it for pc. The Mods help the game too much for me to pass.

Im looking to spend maybe $600-$700 would that be enough?

I have both and I just prefer the 360 version for just one pathetic reason and thats the lighting. Even with the shadow mods, enbs and whatnot the 360 version just looks more realistic. I know its a stupid reason but if I have the choice...

Only if you build it yourself.......No store bought PC for that price will run it. 99% of all store bought PC's don't have a dedicated graphics or a good power supply.

Instead they have a 250 watt power supply is terrible for gaming.

So if you buy a store bought PC, you going to have buy a way better power supply, at least 700 watts and a graphics card.

Power supply will cost about $100.

Decent graphics card will cost around $150 to $200.
