    Playcalling: Manual or Auto?

What do you have your playcalling on? Manual or Auto.

Usually I'll start off the game with playcalling on manual. Play within the flow of the game, have my PG create shots for others and have players create their shot with isomotion, try to establish my post game. Then usually when my backup PG is in, I'll turn playcalling on auto, then switch back to manual when my first string PG is in.

    You?

Always manual. But that doesn't mean that I call a play every time I have the ball. Sometimes I just increase the offensive speed coaching slider (in hope to ignite some movement among my players) and play a little freestyle ball. Somebody is setting a screen, I use it. Watch for pick and roll or pick and pop oppportunities or maybe iso a bit.
I mostly use set plays when I either want to make use of a particular player or mobody is moving by himself or if I think I need to control the flow of the offense a little more.

In my association? Yes because I want to distribute the ball to the right players just like in real life. If I dont put it on auto I usually take too much shots with the main player and the offense becomes unbalanced and predictable.

I always use auto play calling with the game-tempo all the way up. If I dont like the play I call another one, or just do a pick-and-roll. I dont like having to push extra buttons to call a play every time.

I use auto but if they call a play I don't like or want to do ISO or pick and roll then I call that.

I always have it on auto. I love running plays.

But I do override the computer if I see on Heat Check that somebody is hot, then I call specific plays for them or somebody's running cold then I call specific plays to make sure that person doesn't get a play run for him.

Auto, I like to see what the suggested play is by Avery Johnson and if I do not like it - as the PG, I will change up the play manually.

I am not a good defensive player so that remains Auto.

I call all the shots. No auto for me....ever. I would say I call plays 70% of the time, whether that is set plays or quick plays.

                  Re: Playcalling: Manual or Auto?

I spent a decent amount of time making sure my touch / tendencies / rotations and player specific plays are the way I want them and auto play calls (for me) have been shockingly good...

Even calls plays for guys who are hot / heating up as well as running plays that have a decent chance of getting an individual opponent deeper in foul trouble...

I use called plays on O about 90 percent of the time and only "audible" to a pick and roll or quick screen a few times a game...

Manual on D, tho...I play man 95% of the time and mix in a 2-3 in rare instances...

                    Re: Playcalling: Manual or Auto?

My question is if it's on auto, will your guys still run their fastbreaking lanes? Ex: if Kobe is on the left wing an I get a steal will he run that lane or crossover the right wing because the CPU calls a play for him on the right wing.

Tap L1 to bring up the Player Icons, then press the button of the player you want to call a play for. The playcall screen will then show 5 plays (or less, depending on the player), and you press the corresponding button to call the play. Some players have up to 4 pages worth of plays, so to bring more plays up, hit either the L2 or R2 button (can't remember which one) to get to the next page.

I call all the plays for my team.

let me ask this ... If im boston, and i have auto play calling , will the AI call plays for my stars or role players ? I was hoping they call plays mainly for my star players ...

I believe its based on a rating/tendency. Touches or something. I think I've read somewhere that its bugged somehow and this causes the bigs to dribble round the perimeter. Probably won't affect the play calling though.

Even if I knew the ins-and-outs of every play in my team's playbook (which I don't) I still wouldn't use Auto Playcalling because I have found that not all plays are created equal; I'd end up overriding the call almost every trip up court anyway. Some plays are just more effective than others and I tend towards either the quick-hitters or the plays with branches.
