    Clearing cap space????

What is the best way to do this? Also if I release a player I am still obligated to pay his contract correct???? Sorry if these are basic questions, I am just a little confused.

As far as clearing cap space, the best way to do it is obviously dumping your big contracts for smaller contracts. Generally, when I clear cap space, I target younger players who are solid prospects. Another cap saver is look at the smaller contracts you have on your team (typically guys that dont make your rotations) and ship them out for weak picks, or send a few of those guys out with someone to consolidate your contract expenditures. You'll be able to see where your cap is going much easier having a guy that has a $1.85 mil contract as opposed to three guys who add up to that, and typically will have a better player on your bench by doing so.

I'm having issues myself. Any player over an 80 rating is making like 10mil. None of them are willing to play for less money, so you're stuck paying the bucks for decent players.

I managed to trade a player worth 17mil for a 1 mil player and two draft picks. Cleared up cap really well

I run the Lakers and right now I'm in the last yr of Kobe's contract. I'll be either dumping or trading for expiring contracts and when Kobe's ends I'll be releasing him to FA. in yr 2 I got rid of Bynum and Odem and Gasol, as i got some Good Players from the Draft and they are my Future now. It amazed me how much my cap dropped when i got rid of Bynum,Gasol, and Odom. Lots of Room. Kobe is the only one left with a big contract. course he'll be 37 when the new season rolls around.

Easiest and Cheesiest way to do it is straight at the end of the season, when deals have expired and the computer has cap space is then trade for draft picks prior to the lottery.

Just last night I rebuilt the raptors in literally a year, trading away barbosa, amir johnson and hose caldreon for the #2, #4, #10 and #17 pick of the draft.

I also owned the #1 due to a deliciously bad season.

You can then use these picks to trade for players you want as well. #4 pick for Ty Lawson? Yes please.

There is nothing fair about this system though because it exploits the CPU's lack of value of draft picks
