Rotation problems (starters on the bench after 4 min of the 1st quarter)

Hi guys,

I'm playing an association with the TRaps and I have a good rotation. However, the rotation never comes to fruition because the cpu decides to randomly sub in and sub out my players. Is there any way to micromanage that or is it better to go with a manual setting? My problem with the manual is dedicating each players' minutes to memory is hard and I'm not sure what to do

Anyone have an idea on how to fix it?

I think if you have the substitution method as "rotation" and not "fatigue", it will sub players based on minutes.

Personally, I prefer handling my own substitutions to letting the CPU do it for me . . . The in-game AI is pretty good, but the coaching AI does a lot of wonky things.

i do manual. the cpu in this game has a lotta flaws, the rotation is one of them. every cpu controlled team plays almost always plays every single player. i thought reducing someone's rating to 40 would stop it but doesnt do anything.

i dunno what you mean when you say you dunno how to distribute minutes to players in your rotation? for me, i have a 8-9 man rotation. usually my starters and 6th man gets the most minutes.

What I mean is, let's say that DeMar DeRozan plays 36 minutes for me. That would usually mean that he plays the entire first quarter or gets subbed out with a minute or so left. However, that is never the case because he gets subbed out at like 5:40 in a ten minute game. It's pretty stupid considering he's my starter and should play the first Q to it's entirety.

i think the ratings will affect which starters' minutes. i think most, if not all starters who are rated mid 70s or below will avg 22-27mpg. that's how it is in my association.

edit - i do 10 min quarters too, forgot to say

I think if you tweak your situational rotations you should get the desired effect (in Association they are found by going to Main Menu -> Coaching -> Gameplan -> Situationals). But like others have said the substitution patterns are essentially flawed and the CPU will allways do strange things when set to auto subs.

IMO the only real way to get rid of the faulty CPU rotations is if 2k changes the rotations for future games, so that instead of rotations being for an entire game they are by quarter. If they do that and give us the ability to choose who finishes out a quarter on the floor it should get rid of some of the strange substitutions by the CPU

Re: Rotation problems (starters on the bench after 4 min of the 1st quarter)

Its almost impossible to get a player who plays 40+ minutes a game to consistently play to even 40 when someone that backs him up gets quality minutes (~20+). I usually set my rotations so that every position equals to 48 minutes, therefore eliminating players playin out of position. I think the game was programmed to play PGs more minutes than they're given. I would set my starting PG to get 24 mpg and he will always end up with at least 5 minutes (or more) than what was assigned to him.

And I do set the secondary positions so the cpu will know who to put in at the right spot when there's two people of the same primary position in the game together. And yes, I do take foul trouble into consideration (and not every game had foul trouble). In the end, the game still does what it wants.
