On a whim I decided to YouTube 2K11 Tim Duncan and see if anything would turn up. I didn't use the Spurs a ton in 2K11, so I didn't realize TD had his full "Duncan Beard". So it's cool that he appears cleaner cut in the '98 photo, with just the chin business.

Actually The 98' duncan looks A LOT different than the 2k11 one. They did a great job making him look younger.

Re: Saturday/Sunday Feature Pic

It is a bit creepy how everyone is looking elsewhere, except the SF who is standing straight in the middle staring at us. haha.

I liked how the highest rated player in the starting 5 would be prominent in 2K11.

I think it's an adjustment worth noticing. It'd certainly be filed under the "little things" department. And to look further, a small adjustment like that to Tim Duncan is an encouraging sign that suggests other players may also feature small detail adjustments to make them look younger than their 2011 counterpart. I'd also be interested in what young Kobe and Shaq look like in this regard.

I think you're half right. It looks like TD rocked the look we see in this starting lineup photo but he also shaved everything at some point as well (at least by playoff time).

Watching all these Duncan clips is giving me flashbacks though. Often overlooked, but isn't it crazy how easily the Spurs' version of the Twin Towers could have not worked? How many MVP's would be willing to come of an injury-laden year and be more than willing to share or cede the throne to a rookie? I feel like it's a situation where often people wait for a power struggle to erupt while then criticizing those players for being immature. But when that power struggle never comes, there's not much notice of the sacrifice and togetherness that's occurring.

It seems people often criticized Robinson for the certain values he held prior to Duncan's arrival (somehow interpreting them as David being too "soft"). In the end, I think it was David's values that led San Antonio to a championship in the first place. His ability to co-exist, even taking a back seat during Duncan's dominant moments (like in the video above) while remaining a factor himself by filling whatever role the team needed, was awesome.
