Re: 2k12 Rookies?

2K can release the game out of the box with no rookies, but can still give us a roster to download with the rookies. I don't think they can get in trouble for that, can they? It is no different than seeing all those created Charles Barkley's in the 2KShare.

Think about it ...

I bet it's on the disc waiting to be unlocked.

Although I think it has to be the worst name change ever, I hope it is. It'll be just like that year in 2K with his blonde hair (it was terrible having to see that on the court even after he changed it irl) if it's not on the disc.

Re: 2k12 Rookies?

Just to kind of look on the bright side it may not be the worst thing in the world not to have rookies for a little while. What are there something like 34 classic teams this year? Not to mention what sounds like a ton of gameplay improvment. Plenty to do off the bat.
Sure it would be nice to have the rookies of the bat but at least it giesus something to look forward to down the road.

2K can only release players in the NBA Players Association. The difference is that Charles Barkleys in 2KShare are created by users, which 2K cannot regulate. Anything 2K puts out (i.e., "official" rosters) needs the NBA and NBAPA's stamp of approval.

In other words, get ready for a ton of CAP rookies.

Re: 2k12 Rookies?

One thing nobody has mentioned is the Gamestop blurb about being able to patch graphic content... I suspect this means that players will be on-disc and only unlocked, but it could mean that such players are never on the disc and actually patched into the game later. The blurb says 2K could do this to correct player tattoos and hairstyles, for example.

Re: 2k12 Rookies?

This is really one of the reasons those "I don't care about these guys who played 40 years ago" folks should shut the hell up. You're going to get basically the same roster you had last year, so you'd better be damn happy 2K is going through the effort to implement a whole load of "new" players.
