Why are there still differences between console and pc versions?

As in why do pc users get the shaft year after year?

I understand you're selling more copies on console but I don't understand why you would remove features from a console port on the pc. Especially when said features would be easier to incorporate on said platform...

I applaud you guys for releasing an improved game (based off my impressions on playing the ps3 demo) but I thought you guys listened to the community and it's been since 2K10 that you don't include/remove features from the game.

If you guys could learn one thing from EA this year is to better treat your pc fan base

i don't agree with making the pc port less of a game... but they are charging you half price for more than half the features, right?

Repost from the pc forum :

      ----------------------------

      http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keyw...FA%2012&page=1

Look at FIFA 12 console and pc versions prices. The game is exactly the same on pc and console (well you get better resolution, loading times, and mods on pc).

I also think they have to pay royalties to Microsoft and Sony for releasing a game on their platforms hence the game being more expensive on consoles.

In any case, If I could pay the full price on pc I would, considering that I used to buy 2K games on console before they arrived on pc. I think the game is worth the price but the yearly silence and /ignore on the pc version is just disheartening for a company who says they listen to their fanbase (no matter how small it is on pc).

      ----------------------------

Hearing you guys, you should get some features removed when you rent the game or when you buy it second hand then? It's all about the money right?

I'd love to see a quote from a dev saying some of the features were missing because the price was lower on pc.

Anyway, this is a a disapointment to just a few of us, seeing as we're not many getting the game on pc (hell I can't even buy it as it's still not available on D2D or Steam) but not as a big disappointment as knowing we're not getting an NBA season.

Hopefully we'll get a real 2K13 pc version with all the bells and whistles plus an NBA season rolling too.

Dude, you're making it sounds like they haven't included My Player or Legends.

Someone reported in the Impressions Thread that the special intros are removed as well.

"There are no custom soundtracks on PC and those cool intros you see on 360 aren't on the PC version (where each star is broken up with stats, etc.)"

If custom music is all that's missing noone's "getting the shaft". PC players get the game for half price PLUS an enormous amount of third party enhancements and mods.

Re: Why are there still differences between console and pc versions?

There's a simple explanation why there's no custom music on pc: they want to make a simple port from Xbox to pc (easier than PS3 to pc thanks to MS programming tools) and not do too much extra work. Including custom music would mean reprogramming it from scratch (since you probably would want to access files from the hard drive). At least, that's what it looks like to me...

To compensate the fact that they do not want to program specifically for the pc, they allow us to have a cheaper game. Nice of them.

All in all, I'm not happy about it since I only play on pc, but it's really not the most important feature in the game. Would it be nice? Yes. Do I prefer that they remove that rather than a game mode or a gameplay change? For damn sure!

Basic graphical effects, shadows, reflections etc are my main complaint. The intros and menus in 2k11 (I'm guessing they are not the updated 2k12 menus on PC this year?) are less of a concern and custom music I'm not fussed about.

Every other company manages to make a pretty direct port of X360 games to PC and the price argument holds no water. All PC games are cheaper than the console equivalents, nothing to do with missing features, it's to do with releasing them through Microsoft and Sony licensing or whatever.

The PC community end up winning in the end, but I think it's poor that a company like 2K end up with the user community having to make up for their lack of interst in the PC port.

Sometimes I doubt their commitment to Sparkle Motion.

what was most disapointing last year was all the prensentation that was missing or that only made apperence just once or twice during 6-12 months of playing the game.

While PC games are often cheaper than consoles, they rarely are $20-$30 at launch, which is what the 2K series is. Most PC games launch at $50, nowadays companies like EA, Activision, and Bethesda even charge $60 for PC games (Battlefield 3, MW3, and Skyrim will all be $60 respectively on PC). There are exceptions, FIFA 12 is $40 on PC and supposed to have the same features as the consoles, but even still, that's double the $20 2K12 PC was on Newegg in the months leading up to launch.

I think the argument is how many people are willing to see the price on these games go up at bit on the PC (maybe to $50), and get a game that is 100% equivalent to the 360 version. Personally, I'd just prefer spending $20 on these games and missing out on a few features like custom arena music and the lighting issue (hopefully the lighting issue is something that can be fixed in mods).

If you ask me, the greatest blunder is the fact that the online graphics glitch is STILL IN THE GAME!

For those who are not aware of it, on the PC version of 2K11 going online forced the game to low graphic setting effectively making it look pretty much like Live 2005 or something. it is a very MAJOR bug and I don't understand how it is still present in 2K12.

Of course having costume music and decent shaders would be nice as well.
and the 91' Warriors and 01' Kings are also missing- why no love for the pc community?

Also, since there is no real feedback from devs on these issues I can't know for sure that I am getting the full gameplay experience as well and this does, unfortunately bring back memories from the days when EA sports would essentially flip us the bird annually.

Shame on you, 2K sports, Shame on you
