    Issue with Hop Steps....help needed

Now ive pretty much mastered the hop/euro step with a player driving to the basket from the 3 point line .... my issue is doing them in shorter distances from the rim...

If im facing up with Josh Smith about 10 ft out and I want to do a quick move and hop step....im finding it very difficult...I keep pulling up for J's...

    any advice?

Try centering Left stick and then LT plus Shot stick to the left or right. Though for a one on one situation like that I would recomend a spin layup and just before he goes for the layup release shot stick and push again for a step through. Works like a charm.

Same here brotha I can't seem to use it in close distance because the reaction time to do it is too fast lol!

I would just recommend the spin layup/dunk like the other poster said. It's so much quicker to get off and can usually get you the room you need to finish.

To the OP it's not very hard i'm able to do the hop and or fake in to a step through at will. It's easy to do after a launch move because i think you need some momentum.

I can do them after I blow by a defender easily, or on a fast break....

not so much in short distance situations...

Do you get the hop-step animation to play out or is your player just pulling up from distance when you enter the command?

yeah...this is why i was not in favor of getting rid of the hop step button...now it's just way too cumbersome to pull of a simple hop step...you have to be able to react quickly enough to press the left trigger while continuing to move forward, and then being able to hit the right stick in the perfect direction...it's just too much controller gymnastics to do for a simple hop step...

it would be nice if they offered another control scheme where you could replace the shot button or the fake pass button with a hop step button...i never use fake pass or the shot button, so it would be great if they let us assign one of those for something useful like hop steps...i think a lot of people would prefer to give up the fake pass button or the shot button (since a lot of people don't use either of those) if it allowed them to have a hop step button...the fake pass and shot buttons are taking up a lot of controller real estate considering that many people don't use them.

In practice mode I can get the animation to kick in from about 13 feet out of a face-up, but it's gotta be done in like a microsecond or you'll take too big a first step toward the hoop and run out of room. I am doing it with Lebron though, so it might be easier with a PG/SG.
