How do they leave Andrew Toney aka The Boston Strangler off

Dude averaged almost 18ppg for the Sixers in the 84-85 season. Did they just forget about him or what?

They could not acquire his naming rights. What I was saying to quell everyone's fears prior to release was "Fear not, for a talented 2K user will create a very accurate Andrew Toney for us all to place onto the '85 Sixers ourselves." Alas, we do not have that ability, so the absence of players like Toney and Barkley is a little bit more of a killer than I thought it'd be. Not a game killer, but a killer of certain classic teams.

I would say so if you were a lake or Celtic fan back in the day. I remember Riley callin Toney one of the best clutch players of all time. Maybe he didn't want to be on the game, like Barkley, but if they just forgot about him it was a major oversight.

Alright, thanks for the info. I hadn't heard that about Toney.

I can't believe they'd have forgotten about him. If they found room for guys like Clint Richardson and Clem Johnson, they'd have easily put AT in. Gotta be a rights issue.

This is the one game I'll drop down to Rookie 1-minute quarters and finish. I like Dr. J, but not having 2 key starters hurts the game. I'll admit, the inability to edit generic players on Classic teams (that workaround is too time consuming for me) has dampened my long-term outlook on this game, especially with the Lockout going on.

At this point, I'm probably putting 2K12 on the back burner and will go back and finish my Association from 2K11.

You can add players to historic teams once you unlock that team... There is a workaround stickied at the top of the forum about it... You just can't use Toney in Greatest mode...

Not to mention it makes the game WAY harder than it should be since Julius and Moses are just about the only consistent offense on the team.

                      Err.. Bobby Jones?

He led the team in scoring when I beat that matchup. Granted, I kept giving him the ball because he's one of my alltime favorites. Nevertheless, he's an efficient dude.

FWIW, there's a very good '83 Sixers roster on 2kShare for the PS3. I've been playing almost exclusively with that squad and the '77 squad (incidentally, there's a good looking Caldwell Jones CAP to add to that '77 squad) and am in retro-Philly heaven. The Toney CAP on the '83 team is well done.

But yeah, he was great. I knew something was wrong when I played this team, but couldn't figure out what it was...

I watched a Vintage NBA episode on Toney the other day on YouTube. He was a badass, but the injuries got him.

FWIW, you can add players to historic teams in season/association if you don't wanna worry about exporting them. Has to be a trade since you cant assign free agents. I did that with my CAP of him. (shameless plug: I put a lot of effort into this CAP, especially his sigs, gamertag is sellaz32.)

yeah much like the 1998 lakers not having rick fox and nick van exel as key players to start at the lineup.
