Can a patch really fix this game?

for the past 2 weeks, i've been trying to convince myself that 2K12 is a great game, but it's just not.

don't get me wrong. it's solid, i'm okay with my purchase, and i'm still playing it (though i'm not putting in the hours that i normally would with an ideal NBA2K release). i love the presentation, certain aspects of the new AI, and the improvements to momentum/physics, but i can't escape the feeling of wishing that this good stuff wasn't in THIS particular game. looking around the community, it seems like the little problems in 2K12 are turning into a huge snowball. judging by a good portion of the threads around here, i can't help but wonder if people even like this game.

i won't bother listing my specific personal issues with the game, since i already did so in another thread; but i'm just wondering if it's even realistic to think that 2K can correct a good portion of the complaints with 2K12? i don't make games, but i'd imagine that stuff like fixing AI (beyond tendencies)...or trade logic..or on-the-fly coaching menus...or online stability, for example, isn't easy to do in the time constraints for a patch?

We should not ignore that this game has the worst "physics" of all major sports games this year. No other game let players run through each other.
This is the major killer for me and is certainly not patchable.

Yeh I have seen this on many plays, I would play great defense only to see the CPU do a animation lay up and negate My defense. Its really bad. I really they to enjoy this game but it's getting to bevery frustrating.

The difficulty gaining assist on My player or Legend mode is getting at me too. CPUs pass open looks, its difficult to put touch on passes despite a high pass rating, and plays don't always run very fluidly.

Do yourself a favor. Try pro/default settings. Trust me with the sliders tweaked on those settings, this game is a beauty. Believe me, I was really regretting making this purchase before trying this. Know I love it..

I've tried this setting and the game is way to easy on that setting. It's seems the issues affect all levels.

the more i play this game, the more it annoys me...i just don't find myself having fun with it - nearly every posession i notice some WTF issue that bothers me. so many aspects of the game were made worse than last year...some things were made better, but the aspects that got worse are hard to ignore...after a few weeks of playing i'm still not enjoying it...i'm on the verge of trading it in at this point. the gameplay and AI issues are too numerous.

I wouldn't trade it in, give it sometime, maybe a patch will clean some of this up but I feel ur pain. I have issues but I feel like a broken record because it's stating the obvious, I'ma get a job at 2k and see WTF is going on over there lol.

those garbage head fake up-and-unders are reason enough to trade it in at this point. so unstoppable..and the step through animation can make the player go right through the torso of the defender...totally garbage animation. you can't stop the animation with contact.

this game just doesn't feel like it was made by the same people who made 2k11...so many of the things 2k11 did well have been ruined...i don't know why this happened...maybe the head honchos at 2k took the year off and left a bunch of interns in charge this year.

Alot of things that were patched last year are rearing their ugly heads again. I'm holding out hope though. 2k11 prepatch was pretty suspect in some areas. Some things just don't make any sense though. Not having custom sliders available outside of offline play is ridiculous. Not being able to get any real feedback on your opponent online is also a real issue.

We'll see what shakes out I guess...

I'm starting to feel this way to. I'm sticking it out till the patch though (longer actually since I've committed myself to some things). At least give them a chance to fix things.

It's funny, I've already committed to trading it in once MW3 hits shelves.. I didn't want to do this, but I have not enjoyed this game that much at all. Only thing I've found remotely fun is the isomotion, that's about it.. other than that it's all very arcadish to me..

my sim games in 2k11 were far better than this game

With sliders 2k11 was by far the best sports game I've played, period (whatever Pared had his settings on was pitch perfect). 2k12 has all the potential there it just seems like there are so many tiny cracks in the armor.

I really don't think a patch can fix the broken passing. BUT, it should be able to fix the way defenders leave people wide open, at least i hope it does. 3 point percentage can be fixed with a patch or sliders. And hopefully the trade logic get's addressed, it's been a problem in every nba 2k game now, and my favorite mode is association. I would love to be able to allow the AI to trade with each other without worrying about them making really horrible trades.
