Should I return this game? Need advice.

I bought this game new today. Traded in a few games. I haven't opened it yet. I read some reviews and heard great things so that is why I bought it. I thought I would do some more research before I open the game.

I get on here because I trust OS. I hear a lot of people putting the game down. This is my first time owning a 2k basketball game. I haven't owned a NBA basketball game since Live 98 or something like that. Should I return 2k12 before I open it?

If this is your first time playing a 2k game I would definitely keep it.

There are some frustrating moments with the game, and all the settings you can change (game sliders, coach settings, etc.) may be a bit overwhelming at first but despite all the prepubescent whiny-boy posts that have been made here recently the game is fairly enjoyable once you understand how to play it...

A little more information might help some of us out though, do you primarily plan on playing the game online or offline? And are you interested in building your own team (Association Mode), starting your own career (MyPlayer), or just playing quick matches?

There are some flaws with this game, and like every year some will be patched while others won't... But you're not going to find a better basketball game on the market.

Yes, I would keep it but it depends what type of gamer you are, 2k12 is difficult but with patience and understanding it can be a great enjoyment but telling by your post, you seem like your not a avid 2k gamer so it might a little extreme at first, give it time. Hopefully the patch will eliviate alot of the problems. Good luck

If you like basketball give it a try. The game is great and difficult. The trade logic is off but it's all fantasy world anyways. It's not a pick up and play game and you need to know basketball and the fundamentals and able to adjust your game to make the cpu adjust their game. Lotta guys on here are posting due to the game being difficult, it's not easy but it's fun as hell

i would return it...wait for the patch....check here after the patch and see what people say about the patch...right now this game is not responsive or enjoyable for me...and i loved 2k11, but this crap is not as enjoyble to play - so many frustrating issues with the control, physics, and AI.

Re: Should I return this game? Need advice.

I plan on playing offline. My player and association will be the places I spend most of my time until I am decent enough to play online.

I'm a sports guy. I typically spend my time playing NCAA when I am gaming, but I'm tired of NCAA. The bugs and all the other EA mess are too much. I finally gave up on it despite owning every NCAA game since the Sega days. I say this because if the game is playable I will take the time to become decent. Are the bugs that are in the game too much? Do they ruin the game?

OP, if you haven't played a game since Live 98, this will be the greatest game ever made.

                        YES

Trade logic is terrible, you will see guys like lebron, dwade, melo, ellis, and drose getting traded in the first TWO weeks of the season.

                        Teammate A.I plays NO defense.

Please, just get nba 2k11, it is sooo much better than nba 2k12 in soooo many ways

Keep your game dude. 2K12 is a pretty good game, it's very challenging, has a steep learning curve and has it's share of issues I'm sure will be addresses in the upcoming patch(s).

If I were you I'd get myself a good slider set, a decent roster with edited player ratings and tendencies, hit every practice mode including scrimmage, make pre-game/in-game defensive adjustments and you should be ok. I haven't started Association or My Player modes yet as I'm waiting to see what fixes are going to come.

If your still on the fence by tomorrow then you should return your game Tuesday and grab Battlefield 3

Don't allow the negativity in certain threads to ruin your 2K12 experience for you as you've done with NCAA. I'm no fanboy by any means. NBA 2K12 will not be perfect and neither will any other video game title. At the end of the day the decision is still yours to make. I'm sure there are tons of guys who trash the game but still play it so go figure

The option glitch killed this year's version of NCAA for me, not this forum. I'm a diehard NCAA guy. I have never bashed the game or told anyone not to buy it either.

Thank you for the input. I'm still on the fence. I can probably handle the Association problems. Are there glitches or gameplay issues that make the game unplayable?
