    Offensive Rebounding Problem

I am on All Star now, and I have a pretty good slider set to go with it - just a modified version of Sim (48 Medium, 45 3PT).

Anyway, I had a good game against the New Orleans Hornets, I lost 100-86 with the Nets.

But man, the Offensive Rebounding is insane. I never seen so many dudes just jumping to the basket out of no where to dunk.

I know this is a slider question, but it is may also be a gameplay (tuning) problem so it fits in this category among the forum. But, what would I have to set the slider to so they don't do that hocus pocus jumping to rim to dunk.

Even my players do it too, BROOK LOPEZ especially. I can see Kris Humphries doing it, because that boy can dunk but not Brook Lopez- no offense he's soft LOL.

Never had this problem in 2K11. I am doing everything the same, I am no newbie to this game. Everything happens so fast, the dude just comes out of no where and jumps up to dunk it in.

          NJBALLER

Offensive Rebounding is my main issue with the game. I have not found a remedy to change the unrealistic nature of the CPU offensive rebounding on HOF. The problem is 3 fold.

          1) The CPU already knows where the rebound is going before the ball hit the rims, and as soon as the shot is released. Play a game on HOF and watch the replays of CPU offensive rebounding. You will see the CPU give up rebounding position and run to the location of the rebound before the ball hits the rim.

          2) The CPU players often use better rebounding animations than your players, and will get the 50/50 rebounds 95 percent of the time. It doesn't matter who the competing rebounders are. Play a game and watch a replay of CPU offensive rebounding. You will see your bigger and better rebounder jump for a rebound, and the ball will float by them into the hands of a weaker rebounder, who uses a superior rebounding animation.

          3) The CPU constantly uses the spin move to get around the box out of User controlled/AI players. Again, check out the replay. The CPU will spin around the box out of you and your teamates, and get better rebounding position at least 50 percent of the time. These things in conjunction with one another can make defense extremely difficult, because the CPU likes to grab offensive rebounds and either get a putback, foul, or kickout for a wide open three point shot. I regularly have defensive possessions that last for an entire minute.

If they fix the CPU offensive rebounding, full court pass accuracy, and tone down the 3 point/mid range jump shooting ratings and sliders from 50 to 47 the game would be perfect. Even with those imperfections the game is still the best sports sim made. However, if I could only change one thing it would be the offensive rebounding.

Try turning down the putback slider. I'm pretty sure it's a tendency. I'm global editing players down (some putback tendencies are insanely high) but it's probably easier to just turn the slider down to around 25.

              Re: Offensive Rebounding Problem

I played a full game last night but put Offensive Rebounding on 45. It looks to be a solution. The CPU still had that animation where they would jump up to dunk the ball (as I stated in a previous post in this thread) - but my team would get the rebound. I even got an Offensive Rebound with Kris Humphries over someone and took it back up for an And1 Dunk - that is good because he has a 94 Offensive Rebound. I lost the game 93-89, so it's looking good.

My GamePlay settings (if you're interested):
              All Star/Sim
              Medium 48
              3PT 45
              Offensive Rebound 45
              Clutch Off
              Real Player FT%
Controller Settings > Defensive Assist Strength 0 (so defenders don't leave their assignments)

My issue is not that the CPU gets too many of the Off boards but me too little. Their numbers are allright since offensive rebounds should be around 25% to 33% of all rebounds. Also wish they were more tip ins on boards and less dunks. The tip happens in nba way more frequently than the O board dunk.

Havent noticed how I do vs the cpu but vs HUM I am getting around 9 out of 30 or so ... pretty high ... more than double the amount I got with 2k11 ... I like it ... if you are using BOS, then be aware that they are a really poor rebounding team.

Yeh VS user it's quite all right. VS CPU is hard to get em.

                      Re: Offensive Rebounding Problem

Majority of my loses online or against the CPU are due to untiming offensive rebounding by my opponent. Just when you've made THAT ONE STOP and the ball is in the air, you hope that the ball falls into your hands...... but it doesnt and its either a easy putback layup, a uncontested J or 3 and your feeling like a head coach on the sidelines dejected.
