I played with it off today. It really made the defense better, (For a classic roster) But has anyone else tried this for regular nba teams?

Re: Dose anyone play with Defense 3 sec OFF?
I've thought about it. I already turned off goaltending because I can't stand how often it's called on miss-timed rebounds.
In regards to defensive three seconds, the way the refs blow the whistle right on the count of three is pretty ridiculous. They're way too letter-of-the-law when it comes the calling the counting violations. The five-second backdown call is by far the worst. Right on the count of five: whistle. Turnover.
(I've actually had offensive 3-in-the-key called while in mid-shot...ludicrous)
Another annoying aspect of the defensive three calls is how sometimes you'll be playing off your man a bit (not body-to-body, but close enough to touch him) and the zebras will still blow the whistle because you have one foot in the lane.Last edited by TeddyKGB; 11-07-2011, 12:18 AM. -

Great Idea PP.
I never thought to do this. and all I play is my superleague roster over the years.
It makes perfect sense to do this.
Ive also turned off 5secs back to basket.
These 2 rules were silly changes to the game imo.
I prefer the old school.Comment

I only turn them off for my classic teams seasons and yes I dislike the rules myselfComment

I always played with all rules on.
Do AI controlled players behave differently with this rule off ?
Like centers constantly occupying the space under the basket without moving away or something like this ?Comment

No but I lowered reaching and shooting foul frequency for the user cause the amount of fouls being called in favor of cpu is crazy in this unfinished game.NBAComment

The real is in the NBA and has been called. Just because it is not called much does not mean it should not be there.
Most players know that you cant do it therefore you dont see much at all but if you do it in a video game then you are exploding the game.
Simple as thatComment

like i said dont exist. shaq was notorious for having his back to basket WAYYYYY more than 5 seconds but no whistle so i say that rule is non existent IMO. if shaq can get away with it, my 2k games can get away itThe real is in the NBA and has been called. Just because it is not called much does not mean it should not be there.

You wouldn't see Shaq violate this rule. The back to basket rule was put in place to stop strong point guards like Mark Jackson in the 90's isolating one side of the court, backing his man from the wing into the paint for 10 seconds, then flipping up a teardrop shot. Charles Barkley would do the he same thing. Back his man into the paint for half the shot clock. The league wanted more free flowing basketball so thats why they created the rule. But I think Mark Jackson during his Indiana Pacers days was main reason why they created this rule.Comment

i know why it was implemented but its on of those calls that just dont get called in a nba game, and in 2k i dont see why i should be penalized if forget about a rule i dont even look for in real lifeYou wouldn't see Shaq violate this rule. I agree, but I just felt the game had a flow with it off
