1.Find a team-Yeah I was a person that just picked off of my match ups. The best way to play online is get about three teams. Practice with them thoroughly post moves, scrimmage, freestyle practice, playbook and free throws. Go through every player because you never know which mismatch you will get. Learn their jumpers, iso's,plays and hot spots.
2. Defense- The main types of defense are on-ball which you are controlling the defender guarding the ball handler, off-ball usually a big or chasing a shooter off a screen, and switching. Switch is a mixture of off-ball and on-ball. This is probably the best against both sim and cheesers. For example a pick n roll situation I will play on-ball to go over the screen and switch to hedging player to guard against the roll or pop. It's up to you to decide which way works for you. For on-ball players, give the ball handler enough space, not too far or he'll j you not enough where he can blow past you. When moving LS think diagional rather than horizontal movement. Watch the Czar vid which talks about this some more.
3. Offense- Okay bottom line in 2k is YOU HAVE TO RUN PLAYS, to get the most out of your possession run plays. This do a number of things, gives great spacing, set off-ball players up, and makes the defense rotate. When the defense is rotating either you get a open shot or an offensive rebound. Also try to play a halfcourt game for the most part, playing a halfcourt game is difficult to cheesers because they usually can't reckonize plays. Also trying to play with their pace will get you an L. Remeber you can't out cheese a cheeser

4. Use the coaching settings- Very overlooked but very important, now this will shut a cheeser down, sim players will most likely still be able to score. I recommend certain players not the whole team.
5.Learn how to play with lag- Playing online you will get lag, so delay in commands and passes should be expected. Learn how to shoot by sight not by feel. What this means is watch to see if your player is at the top of his release and release the button or stick. Use the flash if you have to, another way to tell your timing is the brick, yes the brick, if the ball hits the front of the rim or rims out, you held it too long. If the ball hits the back of the rim you release too early. The second part of this is use the LS slowly playing defense, using isomotion, bring the ball up slow. This was a reason I had a lot of turnovers.
I'm looking to play more sim players so send a friend request and send os with the message so I know your from here. Gamertag Jerzymade93 which is my little brothers since my 360 mysteriouly feel
Hope this helped or something.
