Yes, I know - complex is kind of a trashy site. It's entertaining for me.

This is a pretty cool article on some NBA ballers who need a tweak as far as ratings go in 2k according to the author.

No idea who the author is, but he has little credibility.

Points out that Billups, Prince, and Martin have good ratings because of the past and that 2k should only rate players based on the present, but then goes on to say that Nash should be higher for what he did in the past.

Aside from that he is largely clueless on basketball. Does he think points per game are the only stat that matters?

Author is inconsistent on his way of ratings.

There we have another guy who doesn't have any idea about how the overall ratings work in 2k

It's obvious he isn't sure how the ratings work. With that said there are some glaringly obvious overrated/underrated players in the 2k default roster.

His comments are more funny than anything and I thought some might see that - his Nate Robinson write up is pretty much dead accurate.

He points out that Nash has dropped off a bit, but most importantly his teammates' level of play has dropped a ton, yet he still maintained good numbers.

He says stats aren't the only thing that matters.

Infer what you like, but I hardly take his word as gospel, nor I twist his comments and take them out of context. It's just a pop culture website with mini articles with neat articles on sneakers.

If you consider that to be largely clueless then I'd hate to see what you consider actual sports "authorities" like Skip Bayless.

Don't get me started on Skip Bayless lol.
Dude is a real-life professional troll.

I agree that 2k has some guys rated higher or lower than what they should be. I just don't think the author of that piece is any better.

Having said that we put too much stock into overall. Take Dirk for example. Yeah 85 seems low but look at his individual ratings. They're pretty much on point. If you boost his numbers to arrive at some arbitrary "dirk should be a 90 ovr player" then it messes up the system and Dirk would no longer play on the game as he does in real life.

OVR is just a reference point for trade value. Otherwise, it's a meaningless "rating" just like regular season college sports polls. We can debate it all day, but it doesn't really matter on the court/field.
