    Chris Paul to the Knicks

so the news came out that CP3 wants to go to the knicks, no surprise, but i am trying to figure out a trade to do with between the teams AND keep it as realistic as possible. Obviously Billups has to be involved for cap reasons, but who else would NO want? would another team join in the trade? HELP!

Another team would have to be involved most likely, but if you want to do all Knicks trade all their picks you can, Fields, Shumpert, Douglas, and Billups in like two trades to make it work.

This trade simply cant be done in 2k, there is no realistic way to get Chris Paul to the Knicks with the assets the Knicks currently have.

Best I could come up with in short order.

          Knicks receive: Chris Paul
Hornets receive: Paul Millsap and Chauncey Billups
Jazz receive: Toney Douglas and Rd1-2013 (Knicks)

lol, not just in 2K, also in real life...
knicks could give away their whole roster aside Melo and Amare and it wouldn't be a fair trade..... this trade just ain't happening, it's wishful thinking

Hornets letting Paul walk without receiving anything? Yeah right. Paul will be gone by the trade deadline.

The Nuggets didn't get all that much in return for Melo and Billups if we're going to be honest. Suns didn't get much for Amare. You get the point, teams would rather get something than nothing.

Chris Paul will get dealt. I don't see the scenario you posted prior though. If anything i think they would take Douglas and the #1 in that scenario. I could see the Hornets dealing him to a team he doesn't want just for a so-so younger package. A team thinking Paul might be enough to win a title with.

Re: Chris Paul to the Knicks

If I were New Orleans, instead of hand delivering CP3 to the knicks, I'd trade him to a bum team for: a poor contract, a young raw player/mediocre contributer, and/or a future 2nd (maybe a distant future 1st).

In other words I'd get something, it won't be much. But I'm not going to put him on the knicks. Make him play out the season (costing the knicks time to build chemistry). Make them (the knicks) have to wait and sign him in free agency to non-max money (bc Paul would make more and have a longer deal via a sign & trade). Trade him to a knick rival (raptors/sixers) so that someone like Bayless/Holiday/Lou Williams can learn from him in practice skills wise. Even if those teams knew Paul was leaving and only played him 10min a game.

If your superstar wants to declare war on you while he's on your team, then you can make it miserable for him & the other team (the knicks) too.

Won't happen. No team will trade for him if they know he won't sign an extension with them. No point in trading all of your assets to rent him for a season.

Oh I agree, but I don't think trading maybe a horrible contract you have on your roster (basically a second amnesty), a distant draft pick, and a bench player (once all the teams' rosters are filled up) is trading all of your assets. Hey, have the superstar around to mentor your young guys.

I say NewO should trade him for the 1yr rental price— rather than hand him to the knicks. Make it hard for em. Hornets do have Jack to take over the point.

I disagree, they gave up a lot good depth to get Melo, Billups was an unintended benefit. It would have been nice if they could have kept Mosgov or Chandler/Gallinari. I agree the players the Knicks got are much better then who Denver got but I felt like they gave up alot.

They could probably get a better off from the Knicks. Why would NO take a horrible contract on? I wouldn't consider a bad contract, a distant draft pick, and a bench player "assets." Maybe a distant draft pick, but that's far from adequate compensation.

What the Hornets have right now is a 1yr rental— Chris Paul is gone— they only have him for one year. That's the reality of it.

I say trade him to wherever you get the best offer, but for the 1yr rental price (meaning without the sign and trade), even if that's not where he wants to go. In fact if he wants to bow out now, I would definitely not just send him to the knicks with a fresh 6yr max deal.

P.S. I said use a bad (expiring) contract that a team might have to get the money close; for a trade to be legal.
