Patch 1.04 = Big Patch or not?

Since I can't really find an answer to this hopefully someone with knowledge could address this question as I am getting a lot of mixed signals and confusion.

Here are the following tweets from Ronnie (in chronological order):

• There's two different things. Roster update this weekend (instantaneous on 360/PS3/PC) and patch in approx 10-14 days (360/PS3)- Posted on 10 Dec
• The patch can't be far off in US since it released internationally today. I'd almost guarantee less than 10 days. - Posted on 12 Dec
• As soon as I hear that the patch is greenlit in US for either XBOX or PS3, I'll drop the notes. It should be any day. - Posted on 12 Dec
• We have a patch that is with Sony/Microsoft. I read the notes this morning, some great stuff is addressed.
• The people asking why the patch is out in Europe on PS3 but not US is because they have different servers that run game
• Either way, that should tell you that it's very close. I couldn't see it slipping past this week but I did say 10-14 days Thursday
• Patch is very close.

So based on these tweets I am totally confused whether or not Patch 1.04 (released internationally) is the big patch or if it's like those other minor patches that were previously released. I have downloaded and tested the patch, but in terms of gameplay, I have not noticed any major differences apart from game speed.


So as for my question, is Patch 1.04 the big/major patch that the developers have supposedly been working on for the past several months???

Have you noticed any box outs? Is the CPU still too dominate on offense?

I don't think he notices any difference....those patch notes would come in handy right now...

Well, i'm getting mixed feelings. Another German said it felt like 2k11..and others said the gameplay improved drastically, so i really don't know who to believe.

All I noticed was the passing - fed the ball around the perimeter with some nice improved, rapid passes.

'Seemed' to be able to drive baseline a little easier without fumbled contact, something I've struggled with since release (I run with the Bulls so love pulling off some baseline double clutches with MJ)

Other than that, I can't say I was paying too much attention.

The block animation seems more fluid (i.e., no more blocking from the shoulders or armpits).

But in terms of players boxing out, it is still the same. Speed issue is also still the same. I had Joakim Noah keeping pace with LeBron and D-Wade on the fast break.

did the patch affect the shooting, i hope not in the sense that it messed up shooting last year (shot stick timing)

Only thing i've really noticed in the past few days is randomly fumbling the ball when i'm near teamates and a center being able to chase down a guard on a fastbreak.

Can no one try and see if the broken My Player mode is fixed?

I begin to think that the patch notes are not released because the incompetent 2k has left many things unfixed.

I've been as vocal as anyone about my frustration with 2K12, but I wouldn't go as far as to call 2K incompetent. Their track record says otherwise. Their game, NBA 2K, is the only sports game I buy yearly (well, that and now The Show) without renting it first. I do that because I have faith that they will deliver a satisfactory experience. This is why I'm so frustrated with 2K12, because for the first time in 8 years, NBA 2K has failed to meet my expectations. The other game was NBA 2K4. That game was horrible in my opinion.

Here's what I think is going on:
the 47MB patch might be something to get the European servers ready for "the" patch. maybe a pre-patch patch.
maybe it's wishful thinking - people say they did not really notice any difference yet ronnie says "some great stuff is addressed".
can't wait to see.

This is the second year in a row that a mode has been so hopelessly broken. Other problems with mechanics are also evident and they weren't fixed because gamers, stupid as we are, we
'd buy this game no matter what.

Expecting them to release a patch and then congratulating on it is completely stupid. It's their job to do it, they are not doing us a favour.

As for the patch, they are not even telling us what has been fixed yet. Last year My Player mode was almost completely broken for anyone who wants a good simulation. This year is the same. What should I call them if not incompetent individuals, who deliberately mislead us year after year?

The thing we have to learn with 2k is patience's, this whole year advertising wise was a fail. Information was so late and then the whole demo fiasco and recently the roster updates. The best thing to do when dealing with 2k is be patient. The patch will get here when it gets here. You know what happens when you assume, so just stop with all these assumption and just be patient.

The best thing to do when dealing with 2k is be patient. The patch will get here when it gets here. You know what happens when you assume, so just stop with all these assumption and just be patient.

Patience doesn't mean NOT criticizing their atrocious behaviour towards paying customers.
