Simming deep into Associations isn't fun this year
After about 5 years every team in the game is rated 99 in offense and basically every team finishes with a record of around .500. You can fix this by editing ratings yourself, but that's very time consuming and takes the fun out of it. Star players don't like to stay in one place very long. Ironically the only star who stays is Dwight Howard who almost always plays his entire career in Orlando.Tags: None -

Yup, unfortunately you must edit almost everyone's rating after every season to keep it realistic. I do it, but like you said it is VERY, VERYY time consuming and tedious!!Comment

Lower every players potential across the league by about 10 points.
Then make sure you either get decent draft classes or you make sure very few rookies have over 75-80 potential.
I've said this over and over again on here...the game doesn't know how to account for busts...so every player reaches the kind of potential they could ever dream of. Which means you end up with everyone rated in the 90s and all stars sitting in free agency with no one having any money left to sign them.Comment

Re: Simming deep into Associations isn't fun this year
I sim one whole season once every few days. Obviously I did not simulate the entire 12 years in just one day, that would be completely boring and repetitive. A challenge I like to do is continue to compete for a championship whilst breeding up and coming young talents via development drills, training camp & weekly practices.
So overall, unlike playing every game in Association for about 3 seasons, I get to experience my players going through their entire careers. I mean how many of you get to see LeBron James or Derrick Rose retire ... In the end its all about personalization and preference. You get people who like playing online only, whereas some prefer to play MP, or even guys that strictly will not begin their Association until a player who was drafted #57 is on the team, even though they are extremely likely to be inactive and considered as DNP ...Last edited by vtcha; 01-22-2012, 02:24 AM.Comment

I do it every year and I love it. You are basically taking the role of the GM of the team and making trades, signings and staff hirings that is in the best interest of your team. I am currently in the year 2024 with the Charlotte Bobcats and have won 5 NBA titles so far. Kemba Walker is a first-ballot HoF with 7x MVP, 5x Finals MVP, 5x NBA Champion, 11x All-Star & Gerald Henderson is a defensive minded guy (6x All Defensive team) that plays the role similar to Scottie Pippen.

Hasn't been since 2K8...
Can't play more than 2yrs anymore... So many trade issues and players retiring early or ridiculous season ending injuries...True bout my business, Mane!Comment

My PC is right next to my PS3 so I usually listen to iTunes while playing, this also includes actually playing in-game as well. I rarely listen to the commentary as they get repetitive ..Comment

Re: Simming deep into Associations isn't fun this year
The thing that I'm annoyed with associations is that after a few years are in, the demanded salaries of the players are absolutely insane. It makes it really hard to keep a core of players together for a long time, and every team ends up like the old Cavs with one overpaid player (who may not even be superstar level) and a bunch of cheapo role players.Comment
