    Going up strong

Problems going up strong to the rim. I'll post up with my PF or C, make a good move like using the dropstep or spin off have the defender behind him and he can't go up or won't shoot at all. I'll mash & mash the shoot button but nothings happens, I could also be on a fast break with a defender trailing me and he doesn't go up, just does a shot fake like Rondo till everyone catches up with him. Need help. I pretty much just use turbo and the shot button and this happens almost all the time.

I posted this a few weeks ago but I guess nobody is having this problem.

    Players not responding to buttons

The CPU decides on what shot it want you to take during certain situations. I hope 2K fix this especially for big and powerful players. I don't know how often bigs (Shaq, LeBron, Bynum) going up soft or weak even when PG's are guarding them.

I wouldn't use the shot button when your trying to go hard into the paint I would use the stick towards the rim and the turbo button and you should have a solid move/dunk assuming your player is good enough for either.

Yeah you def. gotta use the stick in the paint. Quick head fake then turbo and shot stick forward strong move to the bucket. If your right under shot stick down and turbo will dunk with a big man in the paint.

I use the shot stick, only use the shot button if they do not respond to the shot stick.

            Re: Going up strong

For me, it's more than a button problem. I'll be holding turbo and use the shot stick and everything, but my players hardly ever seem to go up strong. They take a shot like it was a practice or something, as if they're totally unaware that the defense is around them.

I notice this most commonly on the fast break. Or if you do a spin or hop stop to get into the lane and don't shoot right away. The player seems to casually take the ball up even though he's surrounded by 2 or more guys. It's frustrating.

Practice shot as in effortless attempt. He just goes straight up without any awareness of the players around him, then gets blocked. Usually.

                  Re: Going up strong

When this happens to me it's usually a case of user error. It's almost always because I'm either a) not actively moving my guy towards the basket as I shoot or b) mistiming my shot input. If you go to shoot too soon coming out of a move like the drop step then it doesn't register. Guys also have to have a pretty high standing dunk rating if you expect them to be dunking on people without any room.

                    Re: Going up strong

Completely agree with all of the above comments.

I'll spin completely clear of my defender or shake them off with iso - open lane - player goes up (Normally MJ as I run with the Bulls) and .....layup. Nearly everytime.

Only time I rarely get strong finishes is on wide open fast breaks.

(Although I'll state all of the above happens offline - online is like NBA Jam, people dunking over 4 defenders)
