How do you beat The Thunder? (no really)

    Hey guys,

Okay well i use the lakers. I am a die hard laker fan, and have never played with any other team when it comes to playing serious against friends. For fun , sure i play with other teams.

My friend uses the Thunder. At first he used the heat, and i used to destroy him. He got mad and picked the thunder, and he has now beaten me 5 straight times.

My biggest problem is my defense. He always somehow gets the open shot with durant westbrook or harden especially. I tried so many defense settings. And when he gets in trouble, he does the fadeaway shot with lebron. I mean one play i freakin had pau on him , shot clock running, he had no where to go, he throws up the fadeway, and makes it ofcourse. Any way to stop that.

So many people online use thunder, they have so many weapons. He gets every single rebound. I freakin have bynum and gasol, still he gets it. If bynum or gasol even get a offensive rebound, i try to go up for the layup of dunk, they always miss when ibaka or perkins are there.

Seriously, i have never been this frustrated. I would never ask on a forum, ive been playing 2k for so long. but sometimes, you just need to ask others, and maybe they know some ways. So i come to you guys.

We play on hall of fame btw. Any suggestions?

I beat the Thunder with the Lakers all the time. Your best bet is to put barnes in for MWP (for zone reasons) and post up Bryant, Gasol, or Bynum nearly every possession. If your opponent is playing 1-3-1 zone, make Gasol or Bynum cut to the basket or find your corner 3 point shooters. On defense you can't do much to be honest LOL. What i do is just stick with a man to man and pack the paint. If I see him using Westbrook or Durant and try to drive with them every time I control my PF or C and cut them off if they beat the perimeter defender.

I have to say as a fellow Lakers fan who ALWAYS plays as the Lakers (actually played against a guy yesterday who chose to be the Lakers as well, my Kobe dropped 52 on his Lakers), I would say out of the 209 games I've played online, 40% has been against the Thunder. I have had close victories, heart breaking defeats, accomplished routs and ugly asskickings playing with them. Now my style doesn't change, but I have noticed that when I am matchup against other users who have played a fair amount of games online and such thats when I have my best games. If I'm playing someone who is barely starting to play online, I coast through the game. Biggest thing is with the Lakers is to use their strengths. Pound the ball inside and if you have mastered a good post game and are skilled in the moves pound the ball inside. 2nd half, let Kobe go to work, get him down in the mid post and isolate him. They can't stop his fade aways and if they focus on Kobe, use him as a decoy. I have had games where I've had Kobe score in the 40's, 50's and 60's, it's been very rare that he doesn't score minimum at least 25 per game. Best thing about Kobe is his contact success, he gets bumped and still puts the shot down. And bench wise, if Andrew Goudelock gets some burn out there, use him while you got him in, get him open and watch him knock down three after three after three. I had him in for 2 minutes in a game and he knocked down 3 straight three point shots and turned a 4 point deficit into a 5 point lead for me.

I have friends that I play that love to use teams like the Heat and Thunder. Do they fast break a lot on you? That's the style my one friend plays all the time. Best thing to do is just slow the game down. Don't always try and beat them with speed because the Lakers aren't really built for that. Like posted above use your strengths. Play the post a lot with Gasol and Bynum. Once they start getting used to that use your best weapon...Kobe. Keep switching it up and make them uncomfortable. Also when your in the post with either Bynum or Gasol and you got a lot of attention make sure to pass it back out to hopefully Kobe or even Sessions. On defense don't get frustrated when there hitting fadeaways on you. There's nothing you can honestly do when that happens but sooner or later they will go cold. If you see them keep using Westbrook and Durant make sure to set a double team on them in your defensive settings. Also theres an option in the quick set defense which I think is called Focus on Stars try that out. When my friend starts going on a roll with Lebron I pop that and it usually helps.

          Heres a tip...

San Antonio, OKC is my team been a fan forever but I realized now that they are in that upper echelon of teams everyone picks them.

Spurs seem to match up perfectly.
