To play realistic games online????

NBA 2k is a great sim but online is the worst game i have played because the way 90% and more of the players treat this game. The abuse is evrywhere from the steals to using one player only to try to win offensive fouls all the time.
Is it so important to win? Not for me i want to have fun playing and it seems it can't achieved online. Last game i played the opponent gets the Mavs inserts Carter as the pg and plays only with him doesn't even pass the ball....

If I play a ranked match, I'm playin to win. Durant will play at my point and he will shoot around 60-70% of my shots. That's just because I know it's going to happen to me, and I hate losing.

I wouldn't consider this cheesing, but ^ is cheesing. Everybody knows everybody can win with the thunder, bulls, heat, and lakers. I would like to see you try to win a game with the bobcats unc_kobw. I play as a solid team but not a super team, like the Hawks or the Nuggets. I was down by 20 as the hawks to the thunder and I cut it to 15 and the opponent sticks in Durant and Westbrook and they ran the score up so it was a 40 point win. It is so F*cking annoying. its also bad sportsmanship.

There is no punishment for players playing out of position. KD shouldn't be able to dribble around or guard 85% of PG's.

The thing to do against these players who play Durant/Kobe/Lebron at point (kind of silly for Durant, since Westbrook is one of the top points in the league) is just go into your defensive settings menu and cross-match your defense.

It takes about 5 seconds. Have your top wing defender guard the "point guard" and have your point guard defend the weakest or smallest scorer in his lineup.

Some Lakers user just did this to me last night, putting Kobe at point so that he could get Christian Eyenga and Matt Barnes into his lineup. I just set Bradley or Allen to defend Bryant, Rondo to defend Eyenga; problem solved. He lost.

The worst-conceived attempt at this tactic I ever saw was when some Knick user tried to use JR Smith as his point guard. He got 5 fouls in the first half trying to guard Rondo. That guy lost too.

I play a 1-3-1 zone with him on the point because he is so long. If I was able to assign spots on defense, he wouldnt play PG. He would still be at the top of my zone though. And so you are saying Durant can't handle the ball? If anything it should be impossible for a PG to guard Durant because of a height disadvantage. He can handle the ball fine, a T.O. here and there happens, but he wouldn't get stripped in real life very often either.

There's no such thing as sportsmanship online. 80% of players don't care how they play, so long as they win, NB2K12 is no exception. Online is a complete joke, unless you play against trusted friends, then you're in for a world of hurt. There's no such thing as 'realistic' play to most people, they just want to see Durant/James/Griffin dunk over 4 people and jack up 40 treys per game whilst never letting up on the turbo button, running around like a rabbit with a poker up its backside.

Stick to offline with slider tweaks, you'll get a much more realistic game. Even the lowest difficulty setting ai has more of a skill set than most cheesers online.

Untill 2K can bring back lobbies, online will be utter bullshizz.

Yeap sadly that the way it is...And most people get the same teams all the time (Heat, Thunder, Celtics) no matter what team you get. I like playing with teams like the T-Wolves, the Sixers, the Jazz but it's unfair when you have to play vs the Heat or the Thunder. Fifa got it right with the head to head seasons mode where you get ie a 4 star teams and you play against other 4 star teams not the usual suspects Real, Barcelona and City....

I once played this guy with the Lakers who was cheesing the whole game long with Kobe, making those fadeaways constantly. The game was close at one point, almost even lost the game, but I pulled away and then he got mad and lost or left the game. Don't really remember.

I just play people who I got in my friends list who play decent ball.

I played my friend one day as the Bobcats and he was the Eastern All Stars. I had the game tied midway through the 3rd quarter, then all of the sudden it was missed lay up after missed lay up, Dwight Howard put back dunking all of his misses, DWade and Melo drilling 3s. So I will never again play with someone like the Bobcats. And until I lose a game online, I think I am 21-0, I am not going to risk a loss.

When I play my friends, we do random teams 3 times and pick one of the 3 teams we get. But you other people can think whatever you want, when I play online, I play to beat you by as much as I can. If I get up 50, Im leaving Durant in and trying to beat you by 70. Thats how Ive always played, and nobody saying thats "bad sportsmanship" or "cheesing" is going to stop the way I play.

I play Madden, NCAA Football, NBA 2k, and all other sports games the same. If I play Madden, I use the Eagles and try to get it to Deshaun Jackson every time because he always has big play ability and is super fast. NCAA Football, I play with Florida and try to give there fastest player the ball as much as possible. NBA 2k, I usually use the Thunder or the Grizzlies. Durant or Rudy Gay are my best players. I feel if they dont at least have a chance of getting to the rim/taking shot in a possession then its a wasted possession. Thats how Ive always played and Im not going to stop. Ive always been successful at sports games.

What's the fun in scoring all the baskets with Durant or Kobe or Lebron? There isn't any, well maybe for you because you lack something. The few people I got in my contact list play normal basketball, don't turbo/rush up the court all the time, don't move like a ******, just fun basketball.

^^^It's not fun. It's not even basketball, not in the team aspect anyway. It's a typical online player attitude - 'I don't care how I play, I just care about my rank and status'

i play for fun online, not for rank. I don't want to be the loser that's ranked #1 in the world because they are sitting on their @$$ all day without a job and without a life outside of their living room, where they get the glorious distinction as the fat @$$ that cheeses his way to the top of the online fat @$$ world. Who gives a crap if you can cheese with Kobe? nobody.

KD led the league in turnovers, he can dribble but not against PG .

This is how we know speed is terrible in 2K12, KD ball security shouldn't be higher than 50.

Most fun i had online with 2k was some years ago playing against a friend. We chose random teams and had fun.
It seems that most of the people care about winning no matter what. For me it's for the fun of the game. You are using an alias dudes playing online nobody cares who you are what's your record. Play for fun using your fav teams and trying to take andvantage of the nice game called NBA 2k12. Play the right way and if it is meant to win you will do, if not there is always next game...
