    NBA 2K13 Wishlist: Player Editing

So, one day, I was editing my My Player and was saying all the gear is nice, but there's so much more that could be done. Then I decided to make my own list of things that 2K could improve upon or add to the game.

    1. Vitals
This aspect is just fine, but one thing I'd think would really be cool is if the commentators would mention players' birthdays during the game. Like if a game is being played on a certain player's birthday, then it would be cool if they mentioned it and all.

    2. General
Weight should have certain effects on a player's abilities and should largely have a role in momentum. Muscle tones should be redone and include various types of muscle tones.

    3. Hair
Hairstyles have probably been a long standing issue, and rightfully so. There aren't too many good styles to choose from. I think 2K should dig into the archives (College Hoops 2K8 had good choices) and take hairstyles from there and look at different styles in general and make improvements. Now facial hair, I would like the ability to take pieces of different styles of facial hair and put them together. Then there should be a transparency option to increase/decrease how much facial hair is on the face and things of that nature. I'd like for the hair to look more realistic, and not just that painted on look.

    4. Player Gear/ Accessories
This is something I see that has great potential for improvement.

For every piece of gear, just like shoes, they should all have the ability to be customized by color with the color palette. It would be nice to have such things like grey knee pads, specific colored rubberbands, etc. The gear itself is great, only things I may add would be, the striped wrist bands a la Reggie Miller, wrist braces, facemasks, goggles, classic striped headbands, the ability to wear ankle braces on socks again, etc.

    5. Tattoos
Make them less blurry and give us more tattoos to choose from. There should also be the option to have tattoos on the legs as well.

    6. Shoes
All shoes should be editable in the NikeID style, with the full color palette instead of select colors. The shoes should be high-res and have multiple options to customize so we can correctly replicate real-life colorways of each shoe.

That's it for now, if anyone has anything else to add, feel free to do so.

Re: NBA 2K13 Wishlist: Player Editing

+1 everything. +2 for birthdays, i love those old birthday stories especially Jordan's 40th. +3 for hair. Holy **** i can't believe how many of these are from 2k5, and the tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny number of actual styles available hasn't increased since then by more than 6)

(if i may be so bold)7. Animations/Signature Style Theres no reason any group of animations should be withheld from certain groups of players unless the result in the game crashing or general ugliness or as it would pertain to a persistent, online-only myplayer(if such thing existed, which it most certainly should)

Being limited(prior to Reditor and 2k12pc) to assigning Blake Griffin's dunk animation to ONLY PF's and C's feels....limiting. Something that 2K have never really been famous for.

There's really no good reason for this besides programming oversights/ineptitude. But what I'd really like to see from editable animation is The same evolution that dribble packages have seen since 2k9 applied to Dunk and Lay-up packages.

I'm sick of Young Kobe doing modern Kobe Dunks and vice versa. Im sick of windmills from players who don't/can't windmill but DO do other dunks from packages with windmills in them.

Im sick of someone having to have a 80 in dunk to be able to assign specialty dunks.
Finally, Im sick of the specialty dunks themselves. Unlike Dunk/layup packs, these have seen NO improvement, addition or evolution whatsoever. Last year i think we got 2 new dunk packages and 0 new specialty dunks. the additional packs are appreciated, but it seems as if the emphasis isn't on 'signature styles' as much as it was in 2k10 and 11.

So i propose that Dunk packages were more akin to the way selecting dribble animations is now, and more. It will give you contextual categories with x amount of dunks pertaining to each context. Then simply, much like assigning moves in a WWE game or an MMA game, you pick each individual animation for each individual context. And much like Jumpshots and Dribbles, EVERY SINGLE dunk/lay-up animation in the game is available to choose from.

And a little niggle...that the developers pay more attention to the signature styles they do add. Do your homework! :P

ie, how many Touch the numbers, 2 hands 2 foot hang on the rim dunks did Blake have this year compared to Cokback violent 1 handed tomahawks? My estimate : about 1 for every 20.

Blake's 3 most famous in-game dunks are all 2 foot 1 handed piledrivers. i do feel that dunks on Perkins, MOzgov and Galinari are to hype for 2k to ignore this and I would expect to see Blakes package altered, but hopefully they don't throw away those dunks like they did with Vince Carters Old Tomahawks and 360s from 2k9 or 2k10 becuase those dunk animations look sick.

There was an 8 but it slipped my mind while editing. Ill b back!

OK i'll try this : 8. CAP/EditPlayer layout its been the same for ages. now with the addition of signature style contexts, tendencies and hotzones over the last few years, the inferface is an inelegant, dated design that would do well with a makeover.

9.Semantics Though this complicates the above point, editable draft position, regular season and playoff stats would be appreciated for all the CAP makers out there. Its a tiny bit of an eyesore that my CAP Reggie Miller went undrafted and has no career stats or accolades on his player card. On PC, Reditor has these values editable, but unfortunately when viewed from the main menus roster list crashes the game to desktop. Personally i'd like this because I have roughly 35 fictional players that i've recreated for 5 or 6 2k games now. AHA! that bring me back to my original point 8 that I forgot and now its point....

    10. Import Prequel Data!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Konami realizes the value of this as much of what makes PES still enjoyable despite lack of licensing is its supreme editability(and superior gameplay ai). Trump among all this is the ability to take your edit data from the previous year and import it to the latest iteration.

This saves DOZENS if not HUNDREDS of hours for people who have to make PES their own game and its high time that VC/EA take note of this.
This is freakin Konami for crying out loud, their flagship title is not PES, that have these interests at the core of their edit mode philosophy. Its high time 2k did this too as just as much editing goes into 2K Basketball every year as it does PES. *******Please make this happen VC *******
Think about it folks...all the accessory customization, the shoes your made, the players you've created, Sliders, rules, preferences, the personal spin you put on YOUR 2k all accessible at the touch of a button on a menu followed by a (relative to editing) extremely small wait.

If they noted #10 alone as a feature, I'll call myself a sucker and actually pre-order

I like this ideas. IMO 2K should also add possibility to copy player face from players from the game. Example you want to create player with Daniel Orton face you take his face and change everything else skin tone, haircut etc. Second thing is to copy players abilities with one move. You want create pg with all abilities of Jason Kidd no problem you choose his abilities and you can edit only few stats (like you do with dunk package)
Third thing maybe not in player creation but 2k please unlock all players on the disk at the beginning if I start association I don't want to wait untill you add all players.
Fourth thing. Add possibility to add career stats, draft position etc. this should help all classic roster creators.

I shoulda added that too. You can also do this in PES. Its known as Copy Base Data and it saves alot of time.

        Look, 2k/VC, Rob, Eric, whoever.

There are a sizable portion of your player base that spends more time in the edit mode then they do playing the game in the 1st 20-40 hours of having the game. We've helped you realize luxuries some of us will never see, help us save our time and get into balling quicker. I mean among the casual editors who spend 10 hours or less, or the dedicated roster folk who spend literally the majority of the year making rosters for people, you'd be saving us collectively thousands of hours of work.

On a side note, that 3rd thing you mentioned Kamilos; If that pertains to last years rookies it was out of 2K's hands on that 'less they wanted to get sued.

Re: NBA 2K13 Wishlist: Player Editing

No no I understand this year lockout situation but in 2k11 was the situation mentioned by me. I started to edit rosters when I bought the game I created my own Landry Fields, Xavier Henry etc. I edit all players in the game and I started my association. After that 2k uploaded new rosters and after that I had 2 choices start from the beginning all play with my own CAPs. Also 2k not everyone have access to internet so if you locked something on the disk give people without internet codes or something else to unlock players or other stuff.

One more thing but it's not a player editing but we should have possibility to create coaches and other stuff. Also it would be nice if 2k add possibilities to promote assistant coach for head coach position. And with this another thing add more original coaches to sign in association.

Good points but try to stay on-topic 'less they close us down and just generalize this thread with the Official wishlist.

Really good one about internet connectivity.

PLayer Editing has always has a sense of freedom and limitlessness in the 2k series. Mid-season Attribute edits ect are very important to a lot of people and 2k have realized this for years now. It just that now we're at the end of the cycle, after 2k13 I figure the team will be 9/10ths steam ahead towards next-gen development.

Player Editing currently doesn't look or feel next-gen, one could argue that its actually quite last gen. A layout overhaul and new features I feel are essential to take the Edit mode of 2k into the next-gen

Another thing in player creation. Add possibilities to upload player photo from hard drive it look nice when you change player during game and see photo not a blank space.

In edit-player you should decide WHAT accessories to wear. At the select jersey screen, you could press Y and it would show Headband, sleeves, arm bands, leg accessories, socks, and home/away shoe. That way if you were playing a game with Charlotte you could set everyone's headband to white, arm sleeves to white, sweatbands to orange, leg pads and sleeves to white, socks to white, and shoes to home.

3D hair like in 2K7, white guys with long hair have hair that moves, they don't stuff it with gel.

                    Sweat.

More hairstyles and facial hair styles that look REAL. Realistic tattoos, make current tattoos on players accessible and you could be able to layer them or whatever like in UFC Undisputed.

This may sound stupid but arm pits look ridiculous and have too many corners, they aren't smooth. Maybe add body hair.

Utilize the Kinect so we can get our actual faces in the game.

Make current players editable, so we can make the game graphically match. We could give Dirk his long or short hair. We could give Kobe a thick beard, or whatever we want to do.

Put progressive sweat. Another thing I noticed if your like teams best player if you pick your 5th foul up in the 4th quarter they sit you the rest of the game. Definetely Reggie Millers striped bands. Kareems glasses, etc. Also be able to load a roster that you want to use in my player incase theres a major update like for example Lebron gets traded which would never happen. Have David Stern call you by the name or your nickname. Be able to customize your nickname like have Black Mamba, The Answer, etc. Game sliders for the newbies haha. And much more. Be able to edit players in the game to add facial hair / remove. In normal game how bout being able to see there face incase we wanted to make them in my player? Make the jersey real so it wont stay right to your body, make it move and stuff.

I'd like to see some improvement in the dunk packages. And how about an actual contact dunk rating too. Not everyone that can do a 360 tomahawk can dunk with a body on them. But back on the dunk packages there are some that you really don't need because they add nothing to the game. Like having James White's dunk package is cool but with no free throw line dunks in game there's really no point to it. Also the specialty dunks are pretty stale by now. We need some improvements to this. And why not specialty layups either?

Also I'd like different body styles for players. I literally see no difference in a 7'0 280 pound player and a 7'0 220 pound player when there should be a huge difference in body styles. Adding an option for different body types shouldn't be hard. Here's 4 basic ones, Skinny, Lean, Fat, and Muscular.

Finally I'd like an option to create my own free throw shot. Just to save me the time of searching through the hundreds of different styles. All you need are three parts, the setup, the hold, and the release. And you don't even have to go that far. Maybe just a setup and a release. Just like the jump shots.
I say it every year, no matter how many people laugh at me, "The Spurs/Texans/Astros will win the championship this year!"

Specialty layups, I know this might sound stupid since I have been playing on PS2 but got a PS3 for NBA 2k12 woo!! Had it since Christmas but what about for specialty layups where if you want to do his specialty layup you start the layup from 3 point/mid-range and the CPU will do the move like CP3's move then it will do the layup. Unless someone can tell me how to do CP3's layup on PS3 id love you xD. +1 on creating free throw shot ,definitely body styles. Yea I agree you know what dunks would be the best in the game, statue of liberty dunk like in NBA Live 2005, let me get my cheat sheet for all them dunks. http://www.gameshampoo.com/cheatscod...FirstRecord=21

I know thats for gamecube the link I sent but who cares. +1 if u agree

If you guys want to be able to edit how every player looks 2K is essentially going to have to use CAP to make the official rosters and that'll be a step backwards graphically. The reason we can't edit LeBron's facial hair is because his face consists of particular textures. If you want the rosters to continue looking more and more like themselves you're going to have to live with not being able to change their hair/headbands/facial hair.
