Weak Blocking!!!

Ok in nba 2k11 blocking was much better! Playes would actually look for the ball but in 12 they just put there hand up and you have to pray they hit the ball! in 11 players would attempt to smack the ball unlike 12! idk if this is beacuse of the patch or not! and it seems like in only way i can block is if the player has a high vert of 90 or more! and one more thing in 11 i could send the ball in the stands in 12 the ball seems very limp and weak!

Blocking hasn't been up to par since 2k9.

Haven't experienced 2k rewarding you for timing a block perfectly since 09.

I actually find blocking too easy to the point where its almost annoying. I'm not sure how I'm getting a different experience though -- I even block shots with my elbows lol

/\ yeah I know what you mean. Ive talked to a couple of dudes that I just started running tm up with this year, and they say blocking is pretty good. When I talk to my dudes that I've been runnin with since 2k9, they feel the same way I do.

Think its just that I continue to play d in the paint like it was 09. Which I'm pretty sure you remember, everyone who played big man came out that year wit OG timing.

Blocking is so easy in 2K12 my SG who was 6'6 lead the league in blocking one year. I out blocked Dwight

It needs to be fixed whether you find it too easy or too hard, the game in no way looks to try and make a play on the ball, the player just jumps into an animation with an outstretched/swatting arm, and it's terrible, same thing with rebounding, jump into a pre defined animation and hope you cross paths with the ball, no pursuit or wingspan involved at all.

You know what's funny the nba 2k12 intro shows Mutombo blocking a shot while it's in the air. You can't even do that ingame...

I hope the developer insight about defense would be as long in paragraphs like the offensive one.

Yes you can do that. I do that all the time, coming out of no where from the weak side to block a shot in the air.

My favorite block I've had was when I jumped from the FT line with Javale McGee and blocked Kyrie Irving (standing just inside the 3 pt line) with McGee's armpit.

2K need to bring back the arms straight up block. There is no difference when holding LT or RT when blocking.
It use to be LT blocking arm would go straight up.

Also there should be different animations heights for players with higher verticals.

2K need to let us control over blocks; tap is a short jump, hold is a higher jump (with and without LT & RT) each button should have a different animation.

Block tap
Block hold
Block LT tap
Block RT hold

hit the block button without the RT and he jumps with arm straight up to block (to avoid a foul) and with the RT it is a more aggressive attempt with a swat block motion. I think it is to easy to block shots but that is why they have sliders in the game so you can make adjustments so a point guard can't block a jumpshot of a 6'10 player.

We shouldn't need to adjust sliders to keep a point guard the size of Earl Boykins from tossing someone like Lebron's shot.

Josh Smith has some amazing looking block animations. Straight up catching the ball out of the air before it gets to the rim.

Agreed. For me atleast, unless you don't perform and up and under, or dunk the ball, the CPU blocks everything, vice versa.
