I Hope The Rating System Was Reverted Back
Perhaps the worst part of 2k12 was the god awful rating system. Players who are admittedly good at certain aspects of the game were largely overrated in the game. Far too many players with mid 80 midrange jumpers and players like Tyreke Evans with 27% 3pt% are rated at 70 in 3pt shot.

Re: I Hope The Rating System Was Reverted Back
john wall shot under 1% from 3pt line last season and yet he was still rating 70 in nba 2k . I liked the old 2k10-2k11 system from 0 -100. 2k12 had highly overated shooters like dirks 99 mid and 99 close shot smhLast edited by chandlerbang; 08-12-2012, 06:37 PM. -
Re: I Hope The Rating System Was Reverted Back
If you define 99 as "The best anyone has ever been at that part of the game", then Dirk at 99 mid-range shooting is still not over-rated >.>
There certainly were a lot of players with inflated ratings last year, especially shooting ratings. And the Awareness ratings just didn't make any sense (Amare Stoudemire had something like 30 points in Defensive Awareness above Nick Collison, for example, which is just entirely preposterous on its face)Comment

2K has never had a 0-100 scale.Comment

Re: I Hope The Rating System Was Reverted Back
This is a very important thread, ratings were a major part in how the gameplay played out of the box. That's why I was hoping a roster guru would have been selected for team up. They really need to get the ratings and sliders right this year.Perhaps the worst part of 2k12 was the god awful rating system. Yes but at the same time you have to understand that we are playing a game. When you shoot with someone with a 99 midrange and you perfect the release the game will make you score 10/10. Dirk has high efficiency with his shot, but making him a God ruins the fun in the game.If you define 99 as "The best anyone has ever been at that part of the game", then Dirk at 99 mid-range shooting is still not over-rated >.>

Defending Rondo and such is different in 2k than in real life because in 2k he has a jumper.Comment

7/10 times...Dirk is going to have a monster game despite whatever defensive adustments you make. Dirk is simply that good in real life as well. That other 3/10 times happen give you hope that you can contain him.Yes but at the same time you have to understand that we are playing a game. My philosophy has always been let the star player kill you....so long as you shut down his teammates. Sometimes that's all you can do to ensure the win.
Rondo does not have a jumper. So long as you don't leave him WIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDEEEEE open from mid-range he shouldn't be killing you with jumpers.Comment

Re: I Hope The Rating System Was Reverted Back
yeah it is true, even on hall of fame, no way I should have iguadala shooting 90%+ on jumpshots just because I have his release perfect. people was afraid to play me in my 2k league because of that and even had the nerve to say i was cheating/glitching(how do u glitch hitting jumpshots with a player in an online league? lol). So yeah it is true. Just because you personally haven't shot good like that don't make it true at all. So no need to try and defend the game. he's not saying the game itself is bad, just that the ratings are, in which for the most part it is agreed that the ratings are trash(really what player in the nba can't hit a lay up pretty much on a consistent basis, no one's lay up should be under a 70)
but yeah if you do a perfect release(especially vs a user) the shot is too damn automatic.
p.s. you know what dude meant when he described that 1-100 scale, there was no need for the oh there was no 100...Comment

I felt like there were to many players with a great 3 point shot and to low midrange. Looking at alot of ratings, the 3 point ratings for alot of players were too high. If we based the NBA on how 2K12 was, then most players could drain 3 pointers but can't hit a basic midrange or close shot. Alot of players would have a midrange shooting of 65-72, but here 3 point rating would be from 80-85, and close shot would be at under 70? Weird that the 3 point shot would be the most difficult of the 3 shots to hit, but rated the highiest. Overall I think we all know that we need a new rating system and new roster update system than whats been used the past few years... especially with all the great roster makers we have on this forum compared to you know who.Comment

negative. just because he maximized his skills does not mean he needs a super high rating. He should be high in the attributes that apply.Comment
