2k should release the demo early to avoid glitches and bugs

PES 2013 released its first demo early August - almost 2 months before its full game release. The reason they did this was because they wanted feedback as early as possible so as to avoid negative reviews and gamers finding game breaking glitches on release day or the first week. They then released a second demo late August that was tweaked and took some if not all the player's complaints into consideration - the second demo is now considered by gamers as well as gaming editors and writers as being much smoother and more refined. This is an amazing strategy and shows that the developers care for its consumers.

2k has a very bad history (apart from maybe 2k11) when it comes to the release of their games, marketing and the demo. I say instead of us complaining to 2k for a patch a month from now, we demand the demo gets released early (with playcalling, substitutions, playbooks and 4 quarters) to get a feel for the game and give feedback on what needs looking at. I don't care if the demo is pre-alpha or whatever. If it's good enough to be showcased at Gamescom then it's good enough for us to take it for a spin. It is after all a DEMO!

I'm used to them giving us little to no information until like a couple of weeks before release but I'd much rather have the demo now than say...following Ronnie2k on twitter so I can see the ratings of Jared Dudley . I mean seriously, is this what it has come down to? We're a month away and we don't even have official gameplay video yet - only handheld, bootleg movie quality videos of terrible players playing it in Germany.

Want a good reason why we need a demo as early as possible? NBA 2k10. Let's not forget the travesty known as 2k10 and its disasterous first week. 2k would benefit from being transparant - they have no competition so releasing the demo won't hurt but help them.

    Remember this?

Well NBA 2k13 demo will be released the sametime its always released, about 2 weeks before the game drops. As for bugs and glitches, every game has them, some games are built on those (COD). So just keep yourself busy until then.....

Then gamers on here should complain more about their online product.. Of course the majority on this site doesnt care about online so that is the huge problem and i think is a main reason y Online is bad every year.. I wish more gamers on this site cared about Online because if they did then i know for a fact Online would be better. Online has been bad since 2k9 seriously...

bit too late for this suggestion. Im willing to bet that the game is going to print within a week if it hasn't already.

What your referring to is a open beta, 2k don't use their demo to get feedback. Its more for marketing their game. I'm sure they have closed beta were they bring in game testers to find bugs and glitches. I don't see 2k ever having open a beta. Even though it will prevent gameplay issues and bugs pre patch

Not to mention the demo will most likely be a couple month old build and probably the same one that was shown at Gamescom

They should let us play at least 2 quarters of 5 mins or more and give us more options (plays, 2K camera). I think PES even released a 10-15 min demo.

I really felt a difference between the 2K12 demo and the actual game.

I agree, I also hate how Online seems to be the around the last couple of insights. I think online, would really bury live, the gameplay is already light years ahead of live, if they can fix online then there would be no area for EA to be competitive with 2k in. I know they have a beta going on in china right now, maybe that's for online. I hope it is, because this is a area that is holding them back.

Konami has it right with PES. 2K's demo are a pure suckfest at just how limited they are. No subs, no playcalling, just a 2 minute quarter? What the hell?

It's outsourcing your QA -pre-release- and doing it for free. What's not to like? Konami does it and doesn't worry about disappointing with the amount of issues, because the community realizes they're playing to help, not just to play the game early.

With 2K's track record with bugs and crashes and issues and their nearly non-existant QA, I'd say this is the path worth taking. I'm tired of being part of a post-release QA, with so many issues remaining unsolved even after the last patch ever comes out.

I was thinking along these lines as well. Why not give us two 5 minute quarters or one 10 minute quarter, Whats the harm? For one its hard to get a good feel for the game with one 5 minute quarter and secondly it's a pain in the *** to restart the demo over and over.

I don't understand whats behind the 5 minute bare-bones demo decision.

i'm guessing in about 2 weeks. 2 weeks before release. i think that's what they did last year.

Best guess is the 18th, they should have all of the insight done by then. So basically 3 more weeks hopefully. I know Tuesdays are usually the day where the marketplaces are updated, I think Thursday there are updates as well. But they usually release their demos on a Tuesday, because the game usually comes out on a Tuesday.
