Not Quite 99 Problems, But is Jay-Z One?

I know this isn't a "pimp my blog" kind of message board, but I thought it would be good to take a break from all of the gameplay banter to discuss the boost in 'celebrity factor' in NBA 2k13.

What do you guys think about the influx of stars like Jay-Z, Bieber, Pauly D and the like? Does it bother you, and do you think it's distracting 2k Sports? That's kinda what my article touches on. Hope you enjoy the read.

Pauly D and Bieber have nothing to do with presentation and art in the game. Jay Z does however and there's a thread about it already.

In what we'ver seen so far.

Gamescom video: he had a hand on presentation. To me it looks pretty good but I'm not overwhelmed,

Lakers Heat video: overlays looks nice. They don't add anything but they don't detract.

    Various screenshots: menus look great.

There are a million threads like this one. But honestly, I don't care about Bieber and Pauly D. Jay-Z however, may be the best or worst thing that happened to 2k, but we'll see once we get the game and Full Gameplays.

I want to give Jay Z's involvement a fair chance. I have to see the full product before I can judge. I might hate it but can't say it until I touch and feel it.

Don't see the issue. There were celebrities in 2K's games way before Jay-Z.

Like the user above me said, 2k always has celebrities in the game. Might as well include them in the social media feature in MyCareer.

I will say I don't like the scoreboard or the gold used in the menus and stuff. Looks bad imo.

I don't mind Jay-Z having his fingerprints all over the game, I think that's actually a good move by 2K. But Bieber and Pauly D (too name 2)? Give me a break. I'd much rather 2K take the effort they spent getting those 2 guys to sign on and put it toward improving some aspect of the game that lies in mechanics or core gameplay, even if that extra energy results in just a minor tweak or a few less bugs.

Actually jay z is the one responsible for getting Charles Barkley and Scottie pippen to join 2k13 .....and i dont mind have celebs in the game cuz most of the people they have are people that love and enjoy the sport in there real lives so its not lile it took much to get them....but wat i would like to see is haven like Jack nickleson and mark cuban and spike lee at the games :its not a big deal but jus adds alittle more realism to the presentation

I also heard Jay-Z is the one resposible for making the sun shine every day when we wake up....

Give me a break, those guys would have joined no matter what. If 2K needed Jay-z to convince Barkley and Pippen to join they are doing a horrible job. They already have MJ who could have easily convinced both of them or at least should have.

So its just a coincidence that they signed on when Jay-Z is involved? So why wasn't Barkley in 2K11 or 12? Yeah bro you are stupid....its obvious you have a problem with Jay based on your previous comments

The celebrity integration isn't a big problem for me. 2k is trying to get some casuals to buy the game, so whatever. I don't have to look at the twitter thing in My Career or play the celebrity game. The Jay-Z music video montage before the games might get annoying, but you can button through those.

People like to complain, and when there arent many gameplay issues, they complain about everything else. Its the internet.....

Jay Zs involvement might end up being one of the better additions to the franchise. So far I havent seen anything that raises major red flags

I'm still not 100% sure whats Jay Z's function considering 2K never offered a full explanation to his involvement.

You really think Jay-Z is the reason Pippen and Barkley signed? Give me a break. It's a publicity stunt. Unless he personally paid them, he had little to nothing to do with them signing on. The only difference I see so far is that there's a lot more well known music tracks in the game. Too much Jay-Z and Kanye for my liking.
