    Getting Out Rebounded?? Here's why...

Ive noticed alot of people say that the rebounding is broken in every 2K game. But the main reason why this is happening is more than likely human error. You simply have to box your man out.

When your playing on ball defense and the player/CPU takes a shot, instead of turning to chase after the rebound, Hold LT and use LS to keep the shooter from getting the rebound. His in turn makes everyone on your team do the same thing, and your team will more than likely get the defensive rebound.

This is something i use when i play and I usually play on HOF or Superstar at least, just wanted to give a tip that some of you might not know about since i've gotten so many good tips from this site.

Guilty as charged. Thanks for the tip.
My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

Yea its so many small details to this game and they never give you a full manual to explain these things..I guess hey expect us to just figure out every little trick. But if you understand the fundamentals of real basketball and apply it to this game, you can have some really great things happen.

This was what i did last year, but last year, there were plenty of times i'd box out and then my guy would get his rebound stolen by a guard (Both opponent and teammate)

I havent played enough of this year to make a sure judgement, but I feel like this year's box out animation hitbox to engage the box out is smaller. I found it harder to box out than last year, though it could just be the small sample size of games.

However, I think i do see less superman guard rebounds, but again, I havent played enough to really confirm. Liking the game so far, there seems to be more live rebounds where the ball tips in the air. Was in the last two iterations as well, but it seems like it happens more, which is kinda cool to me.

No offense to the OP, but isn't this obvious? This is like basketball 101. When a shot goes up you put a body on your man and get between him and the basket.

Regardless of boxing out, still doesnt explain how Wade can out rebound Jordan, Pippen and Rodman under the rim. Too many instances where its a 1 on 3 and the CPU gets the rebound.

Hell Ive seen Chalmers get offensive rebounds on my key stops on the defensive end just to make the game close.

Boxing out helps but the insistance of the CPU making the game close defeats this.

I know how to rebound, the issue with the game is that my CPU teammates apparently don't.

The excessive offensive rebounds have nothing to do with the player I'm controlling, it's a general lack of fundamentals from the other guys.

Boxing out myself doesn't do a thing for everyone else on my team, and even if it did, having to box out using the player contesting the shot (which is the one I'm always controlling) every play makes absolutely no sense and is highly impractical.

okay i just played a full 10 minute game on pro settings with custom sliders trying to fix the rebounding, sorry OP but your remedy does not work, the reason people are getting outrebounded is because the defense is going over the back and tipping the ball (have u noticed how many times the ball will get fumbled around in the air before finally resulting in an offensive rebound)?? i will soon do another game and save replays of this event happening. it happens on almost every scenario where the man thats boxing out is fighting for the rebound, a defender will come in over the back, or it might be a guard that runs in and tips the ball in the air, then when it comes down for the second time my guys will jump and the ball will be in their hands and it tips in the air once again before finally ending up in the oppositions hands.

honestly wouldn't it suck to have to remember to switch over everytime and box out with whoever is under the basket...the AI is supposed to do this automatically...ALSO i started this game with the ORIGINAL sliders, and tweaked them accordingly

Well the problem with that is, you can't move when you are boxing out. You have to find a person to box out first by that time the cpu has already jumped or even if you do jump your jump will be delayed or not even jump while the CPU continues to jump like a pogo stick.

What about missed layups? When it's no time to box out. You would think the person under/ closest to the rim/ball would get it...nope.

I will continue to practice. But the more I play the more issues I see with speed and rebounding. I hope it doesn't continue.

You can only control one person. If I'm contesting a shot, I shouldn't have to switch to my 95drb big man to get him to box out. Neither should I have to box out on the perimeter for said big man to do the same.
I like that you don't get so quickly stuck in box out animations. Last year it was so unrealistic. But the CPU has to do a better job when the ratings call for it

Yea this is basketball 101 but alot of people dont actually do it..they run to the ball instead..This doesnt stop the CPU from getting any offensive boards but it does cut down on alot of the ridiculous ones.

The simplest way to put it is whoever your controlling when the shot goes up just find the closest palyer to you and box him out, DONT run and jump after the ball. Even if the player your controlling doesnt grab the rebound more than likely one of your teammates will because they will all be boxing out as well.
