Re: Points in the Paint
I'm really wondering about this as well. Hands up, unlike on jump shots, seems worthless and ineffective in the paint, jumping for the block gets delayed and seems worthless as well (a problem carried over from 2k12). 9/10 times getting the ball into the paint means a bucket, regardless of the defense. This shows up not only online where cheesers paint score at will, but offline where the CPU gets 2nd chance pts at will as well. Just wondering how we're supposed to defend this.
And yes, I know some will say just body up and deny the paint, but even the best defenders in the world can't stop guys from driving by them, especially when on the 3rd, 4th, 5th attempt to drive the paint by my opponent is succesful and results in a bucket.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
For the CPU, try going to tendencies and turn down attack the basket.
For both you and CPU, try turning down inside shot success and turning up inside contact.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
That's only a bandaid. I want a way to be able to stop the CPU or people online if and when they do get to the paint, especially right under the basket. Right now it seems impossible. Fixing sliders is fine, but it's just a bandaid for a real issue that hopefully will get patched.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
I'd almost be willing to bet my left stone that if they patch this problem the fast break will start to disappear...
Something tells me the two are kinda intertwined together in their programming of the game. But yeah, something needs to be done about this...STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: Points in the Paint
This helps a ton versus the CPU at least. That and don't try to cover everyone tight manually or in the settings. I still think its too easy to get in the paint and not enough contact in the paint but with these changes i am at least getting the CPU closer to 40-45%.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Re: Points in the Paint
I can't stand playing online anymore. With ppl scoring in the paint with ease with players all around them is BS. For some reason I don't mind the CPU doing it because I know 2K programs them to cheese but seeing myself and others scoring in the paint at will makes this game no fun at all.
*EDIT* oppenent picks Heat so I pick lakers since it's my first time playing against the Heat. Lebron dunks through my players even Howard instead of getting a block. I'm ready for charge on to see my player fall to the floor or Lebron hits the player but slides off of him. Battier throwing full court passes like he's a PG. This game is freaking NBA JAM online.Last edited by apollooff320; 10-09-2012, 12:01 AM.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
I set my defense to guard the paint, and I reduced CPU tendency to go inside, all the way into the 20s, yet they've so far scored 26/33 points inside the paint!
If you look at their shot chart, all but 7 shots have been in the paint! This is just getting ridiculous. What's the point of playing if every game, the CPU just gets the ball and runs inside the paint and scores.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
I think so too, most people love that the elite guards in this game actually attack like they do in real life but if something is done with points in the paint I have a feeling guys like westbrook and rose will end up inefficient once again.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
I wish we could take a pic of the shotchart, it's getting annoying now at just how much points in the paint the CPU scores.
I play offline for a reason, to avoid playing with these types of people, but the AI is playing like some cheap kid who can't shoot the ball, so they spend 99% of their possessions, doing whatever they possibly can, to get the ball in the paint and score.Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
I agree! The points in the paint by the CPU definitely needs to be tuned. It's pretty ridiculous, even on pro/all star simulation."Don't be afraid to go to number 23, he's alright."Comment

Re: Points in the Paint
You're all correct, until a patch is made, there's going to be TOO many points in the paint.
You want another solution/bandaid:
Download a roster where someone has taken the time to edit each individual player to take more mid range jump shots.
Leverage someone else's work - Xbox or PS3, people are working on cranking out better rosters for this very reason.
Is this a silly solution to something 2K should patch? Absolutely.
Is it better than complaining about this...absolutely.Comment
