    Need Trade Input: NO Hornets

    Hello fellow OS'ers,

since this summer, when New Orleans won the lottery for Anthony Davis, I decided that the Hornets were going to be my first Association. A rebuilding franchise that is trying to recover from the loss of Chris Paul, and addition of NPOY/Gold Medalist rookie Anthony Davis made this an easy choice.

The owner of the Hornets, Tom Benson, just purchased the organization in April. In my scenario, Benson appointed me as his GM to take over all personal decisions.

However in June with the 10th pick in this years draft, the Hornets selected Austin Rivers. Never been a huge believer in 'Sub Zero' and disagree with who they are surrounding the face of the franchise with. Both Rivers and Gordon are undersized, trigger happy, two guards, who are more known for scoring than getting others involved and playing good defense.

I feel Davis has the potential to be the next Bill Russel and want to build my team around his defense. Rivers is a SG in a PG's body and his biggest weaknesses (involving teammates/making others better, and commitment on the defensive end) totally clash with my new philosophies that I want to instill in my new look Hornets.

In my aforementioned scenario, I would have never drafted Rivers with the intention of keeping him.
Here is where you guys come in
: what combination of players would I have to give up to potentially land Rondo from the C's?

Rivers, Gordon and a draft choce?

Rivers, Gordon, and a combination of the Hornets prospects, like, Aminu, Ryan Anderson, X Henry, R. Lopez?

Looking for a realistic trade that benefits both teams. Comments and ideas are appreciated!

    Thank you!

Gordon and Rivers is not realistic for Rondo. I don't think we would trade him right now unless we got back another top 5 PG ala CP3.

I remember a year or so ago the rumors were coming out how Doc and Rondo were butting heads. Also Rondo is the most valuable player they have and I kept reading about how they were willing to trade him if they could get back a lot of young players.

Idk, Doc coaching Austin seems like a great fantasy scenario to me lol. Not to mention if they got Rivers and Gordon it would allow them to move Bradley to his natural position and Terry could come off the bench as a 6th man again. Their depth and youth would be crazy

Back then was different Rondo is more of the Leader and future of this ball club then 2-3 years ago. Like I said, Top PG, I would try getting a third team if you want to make this semi-realistic because in IRL I doubt they trade rondo now.

Which top PG would you think they would be interested in?

I'm running my Association w/ the Hornets as well. Just keep Rivers and develop him into a true point guard. Dude is pretty good coming off the bench and with him and Gordon in the front court and Davis developing, that could be lethal.

I don't think you can get a "realistic" scenario with you getting Rondo.

If you get Rondo on the Hornets, every trade would be considered "unrealistic"

But my thing is why Rondo? I can see maybe going after a young PG that hasn't really gotten his chance to start(Eric Bledsoe,Darren Collinson(if he didn't just sign with the Mavs)But any of the trades will never work and Celtics won't be getting nearly there proper value for him just wait till off season to try and sign a PG or something

realistic or not, you're gonna need players that can score and create their own shots. if you trade away your only 2 legit offensive threats for rondo, you're gonna be cruisin for a brusin.

Benefits both teams? I say rape the system if you can. There's bad trades in the NBA all the time. If it works, it works.

I would find a way for a Gordon-Curry swap. Curry and Davis would be nice. Still have an elite offensive player and whatever Curry lacks on defense, having Davis protecting the rim makes up for it. Similar to what is going to happen with Nash and Howard in LA.

                      Or Rubio, I suppose.

On a side note: for some reason the Bobcats want to trade MKG for as little possible in this game so I would try and steal him. Same with Pau Gasol.

I would actually try and pick up a center and then move Davis to PF.

Don't listen to this guy ^^^^

You chose the Hornets, the Hornets are a work in progress, they're not going to be a contender for quite some time, and if you want to be realistic like I think you said, then EG, Unibrow and Rivers are your mainstays, those are the guys you build around. Rivers is absolutely LETHAL, keep him and develop him, the development process is what makes the game fun. EG is your #1 option and Unibrow is your 'franchise cornerstone' ?? Robin Lopez is also a solid backup C for you, your main concern right now should be finding low post presence... Ryan Anderson and Anthony Davis won't get the job done right now as far as post moves... I've never been a fan of Aminu, but between him and Xavier Henry, you can possibly try and move one + another player and package a draft pick for a PF, someone like a Zach Randolph possibly. Move Ryan Anderson to 6th man with Rivers and you should be able to compete for the 7-8th playoff spot this year. Then go into the draft and find yourself a stud SF and I think you will be in good hands.

Kind of how the Magic got Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, rookie Moe Harkless, Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga...etc for Howard?

That trade was unrealistic as hell but it somehow went through. Rondo isn't all that unrealistic considering he has been considered a headache for years and hasn't exactly gotten along with Doc. I really don't believe he is untouchable, the C's would do it for the right price. Not to mention their future at PG is already on the roster (Bradley)

Believe me I agree. It's not like I wouldn't be getting anything back from either the C's or a third party. If I gave up Gordon I would be looking to add Courtney Lee, specifically.

i say that you should build your team around davis, gordon and rivers. id trade either henry or aminu for a serviceable point guard rated in the mid 70s. id let him start at pg and let rivers rotate in off the bench at pg and sg. besides that id build through the draft and develope the players on the roster.

lee is really just a spot up shooter and defender. id steer clear of that...you need legit scorers to balance out the roster.
