Anyways would this have to be fixed in a patch or could it be a hot fix? Sim users, and even casual users, would still probably prefer more of a challenge. But at least, give us the option to play an online ranked game like on AS or higher and then keep pro for the younger kids or something.
How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?

How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?
Right now it is Pro, default.....are you kidding me? A game sold as a basketball simulation and the online ranked games are on Pro? Anyone see a problem with that?

Its most likely on Pro or All Star, there is no way its on Superstar.
Ranked games need to be on atleast AS Sim but would prefer Superstar Sim. Shoot just give us search options ala Halo, let us search for HOF SIM, or any combo of what we want. Not hard, problem solved."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

Re: How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?
it's crazy and it seems so easy to fix. I don't understand game developers. Every game i've played there's been a major disconnect between them and the "true" gamers. 2k13 online play has catered to the "noobs". 2k12 felt like a challenge at times, but a fun challenge. This game is a challenge to see who can cheese it up the most. And if no one is cheesin that much in a game, it's the cpu that does the STUPIDEST sh.t. (i.e. lack of ball awareness) i'm a big time online player but I refuse to play another cheesy online game against Mr. McCheese who want's to A. Rodgers the ball down court to Blake Griffin who begins his dunk animations 20ft away from the hoop. F.ck that son.Comment

Re: How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?
Always been a glitch on vip that says its on superstar for years but a dev actually answered that a year or 2 ago that it was a glitch. Look at a youtube video somewhere on this site it shows it being exposed on pro default.Comment

Re: How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?
Pretty sure it's set on Pro default, because when you setup a versus match in "play with friends" that's the setting it is set to first before you change it.
I'm in a league where it is HOF default I believe and was told it would be sim. I refuse to play another game on default cuz it's just stupid. Absolutely no fatigue, and rarely any fouls called. The football passes from inbounds isn't a default/sim setting issue though, that just needs to be patched where you either, a. don't have the option to pass to those players, or b. the pass is inaccurate and thrown out of bounds every time. But these ranked ganmes on Pro default is ridiculous. I am like 12-10...watching ppl cheese is no fun. Playing 1-3-1 zone all game is no fun. Watching almost every 3pt shot go in cuz it's on default is no fun. I wish they'd fix this crap. I wanna play real ball, not NBA Jam!!Comment

Re: How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?
IMHO, 2k had good intentions but bad execution.
It goes back to 2006 when the 2k games had a major issue with people online and offline just taking off down the court for hail mary's. Anyone who played those games back there can remember how miserable it was.
So in 2007, they made it nearly impossible to throw the ball past halfcourt. Usually it would be deflected, or awkwardly overthrown. It was definitely an improvement (particularly for online), but made it really hard if you were a fast break offense to really break on rebounds.
I've felt this way since that day that it was hard for me to effectively use quick PGs like Rondo because usually 2k forced them to come back to the ball or stop on the outlet pass and lose momentum, therefore the defense would get back and stop the break.
So while I welcome the change, I think it should be a combination of both. You shouldn't be able to throw consistent bombs down court, but make it so fast break teams can get out on long rebounds, etc.
Nonetheless, difficulty needs to go up. But you can see why they did it. It goes back to why people appreciated NBA Live when it didn't totally suck. Good players in older 2k games could shut down an offense. Play a 20 minute game and see a 38-32 score. Teams shoot 30%. What does that mean? Boring. So what do they do? Make it easy. Easier to shoot, to run, to jack up 3's. Play a 20 minute game that plays up into the 60s and 70s. Makes more people want to play, to buy "packs." It sucks, makes it unplayable for normal players like myself. Becomes a Bron fest. Unstoppable.Comment

What did you think of 2k12 online? There is always gonna be the idiots who do crazy stuff all game no online setting will block those ppl. I'm still just playing 2k12 cause all I do pretty much is play classic quick match. Need my legends. I feel like in 12 at least defense was possible. I just stay in man to man unless my opponent starts doing the same thing every single time.
Bottom line though is I believe that for every crazy unrealistic offensive tactic, there is an equally crazy defense to stop it. You can be cheap on defense too (zone double/triple teams)

Re: How hard would it be for 2k to increase the online difficulty to AS or SS sim?
I don't think people can ever agree on what sim actually is, just what sim is not... Throwing hail mary's up the court because you know it'll almost always go for a dunk, not sim. Having players shoot 60-70% from the floor every game and 50%+ 3 is not sim (at least not when dealing with contested shots). Giving the ball to Lebron and using iso moves to get him open drives and/or fouls is not sim (every time you have the ball).
Some of this is due to the low difficulty. The low difficulty makes it easier for some to abuse game AI. It used to be if you shut down someones cheese, you won the game. But there are so many different tactics, it gets boring to even try. Raise the difficulty, make the product better (at least more basketball like).Comment

Amen, if the casuals want a dunkfest/3pt contest, let them play backup mode.I don't think people can ever agree on what sim actually is, just what sim is not...
