you use it when you want to get burned by the defense. It's purpose is pointless. They've implemented it totally wrong. How i miss NBA 2k9 where they got it right the 1st time. Defense is terrible in this game. You get stuck in these canimations when you miss a steal animation, or block animation. I dont understand it. If 2k manages to come p with a solution for this via a patch, kudo's but i wont hold my breath on it.

The best defense i saw implemented in the 2k series was a mix between the lock on defense in 2k9+2k10's on ball defense+2k11 Bumping & shot Blocking, if there could somehow be a marriage of their previous defensive schemes all rolled in one, you'd have the best defensive schematics in basketball history!

Excellent post Boric, defense is definitely in the game this year. Even though we could all use some more contact animations in the paint, 2k13 is still the GOAT for 2k.

          Thanks bro.

The only problem I see on D is that we need more contact in the paint then were getting. I do see alot of rubbing off players where they should be contact made.

Lol, this is the problem. I think too many people jumped into playing and didn't do either training camp or just general playing to get a feel of defense. Too many people play the same defense regardless of who they're guarding. Always playing nut to nut with the ball handler then being upset when they get blown past.

              LMAOOO

You speaking the truth brody. I don't understand why people play so close on you then bitch and complain that defense isn't in the game, it's to easy to score in the paint.

              Ridiculous son.

Exactly people online just try to spam steal and get mad and call BS when I drive by them. Seriously just played someone who kept picking up Rondo at the half court line spamming the steal button the messaged me after the game saying I was lucky..

Pause but I play nut to nut sometimes, and it frustrates the hell out of the ball handler to the point where he just starts dribbling in circles. Ill play tight defense while he's bringing the ball up sometimes and ill get burned but I won't complain. I'm actually an extremely great defender on 2K, it's gotten to the point where people will send me messages after games and tell me stop playing off-ball... LMAO. I'm very good at knowing what the opponents next move is, there are plenty of times where ill lock up Kobe with Ben Gordon or Russell Westbrook with Kemba Walker. I personally feel some people aren't smart enough to beat great defense, too much isomotion, too many dumb contested shots... Defense works perfectly fine, 1000x better than last year.

I guess that's why everybody's playing zone now cause they can't guard one on one.

very useful video, tnx. And what about post defense? do you use intense-D or just Left and Right stick? how do you create contact when you want to contest a shot right under the rim?

First of all let off the LT. Only use LT the first 2 seconds after you body up the post player, then let it go, use RS to try and muscle him away from the hoop. Soon as he goes for his shot, move the RS AWAY from his body. That will make your defender lunge up in the air and body him up without a foul usually.

For Running hooks, as soon as he goes to make his move to start running, run to the spot he's going. Don't run with him, run to where he is going to shoot his jumphook and press y, beat him to the spot.

Hands up defense in the post is usually good for faceup players. Instead of committing to a full contest just use hands up because you can move with ya hands up if the faceup player hits you with a pump fake and tries to blow by you. Also hands up is decent after they get a offensive rebound.

Also on faceup drives, try beating him to the spot you think he's going. Go for a charge or use the lunge animation by moving the RS away from the defender like I told you earlier.

great post d11, exactly how i feel about on ball man to man.

post d could use some more contact animations but thats a different story and the post is not unstoppable either.

but i love locking down someone with an avg defender or even a poor defender and getting that message "yo I playing you straight up, stop playing off ball" LMAO Seriously, anyone who talks to me on live, knows I only play onball with my only switching off being on screens or manually hedging, or trapping/doubling, help side D in the paint (sometimes).

in 12 i had nash locking down dwill, no joke. dwill still would score as nash isnt always gonna stop him, but nash was on that D boy.

I learned in 2K10, Left Trigger will save your life. I don't jump to block shots anymore since 2K10, ill just hold left trigger and auto contest.. Forcing things like body contact jumpers in the post is something I think people take for granted. Everybody wants to block shots nowadays, just play great defense, I promise it'll pay off. Hell, even holding LT the defender will auto contest and attempt to block the shot, and with the way auto contest works now in 2K12, I think it's definitely a good look.

This is a terrible video...are you ****in kidding me? that's footage of nba 2k12!!!
He's asking about 2k13, and then you get a bunch of bandwagoners liking your post??? wtf? i dont get it. THE OP ASKED ABOUT 2k13 intense D, and as far as i know, the CZAR didnt release a 10 part series as he normally does this year, so, miss me with that fam.

Look, the defense is terrible, point blank PERIOD. Dont try and cover up for 2k, they need to fix on ball D, lateral movement for the defensive player, shot blocking, contact in the paint, and steal attempt recovery animations. I'm nice at 2k fam, i been nice since 99' and i'm not here to brag or boast, more so to tell you i'm experienced in playing 2k, so i know what i'm talking about when i say this game's defensive scheme is THE WORST in the franchise!

LT will get you burned out here, oh and forget about it if you go on the myplayer blacktop...
