Question for those playing on 360+Proper Home Theater setup

Hey guys - I'm having trouble with 2k13 and wants to see if anyone else experiences it also.

This post is for people who have NBA 2k13+Xbox 360+ 5/7.1 Home theater setup that is calibrated properly.

What i'm noticing in the audio is when the announcers talk, the audience clapping sound out of the surround speaker fades in and out (as if to make the voice coming out the center more clear).

If I set the Announcer's volume to 0, the rear's are fine. So it only happens when the announcers are in play.

I've already tried the usual, swapping speakers, verifying audio levels, turning post processing (audyssey, dyn vol, etc) off. The problem persists.

If I put in NBA 2k12, everything is fine.

So if you have a home theater, can you listen closely to your surr speakers and see if the volume fades in and out when announces are talking?

It's not your setup. I have noticed same thing. I just haven't had time to play around with the audio setup to see if I can minimize the effect. It is irritating.

Re: Question for those playing on 360+Proper Home Theater setup

Thank you. Do you use a PS3 or XBOX 360?

I suspect that the Audio was "watered down" to cater to people who use their TV speakers only. I've tested this extensively and the workarounds are:

Use Stereo Mode (instead of Dolby 5.1+)
Turn Commentary volume to Zero and keep using Dolby 5.1+

There doenst seem to be a way to keep commentary on, while having even surround sound audio. If the commentary is set to 5 or higher the issue occurs.

Changing receiver setups (audio surround modes and post processing) does not help since this seems to be built into the game design.

I opened a ticket with 2K but quickly aborted since it was clear they wouldn't even try to help.

I guess there aren't too many people with the ear to even notice this type of thing. The game feels a little dry without announcers, but I usually turned them off any way so i'm good.

I think this is poor audio engineering from the 2k team

Just picked up the game and having the same issue. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this. At this point I just play the game in stereo mode. Sucks not to be able to take advantage of the surround sound.

2k doesnt seem to care about this issue since those with surround sound setups are the minority. The only work around is to turn the announcers voice off. This will allow you to use 5.1 without ridiculous sound fluctuation every time the announcer talks.
