teams that rely on their elite defense and rebounding IRL and dont have many scorers on offense such as the pacers and bulls dont translate to this game at all because defense (espeically paint defense) and defensive rebounding isnt good in this game.

Yeah you don't feel pacers defense in this game . You may feel it offline, custom sliders etc... But in online quick matches you don't feel it. Defense just isn't a big focus for 2k like offense is. Casuals prefer offense over defense.

Defense in general is horrible in online games unless you're using an elite team with defensive anchor or lockdown defender. Man, when I tried using the Miami Heat, I felt unstoppable, because Lebron was dunking and scoring in the paint at will...then came the 4th quarter.

Honestly, the BIGGEST disappointment is Roy Hibbert. He's really a non-factor in online games. I just finished a game where Steve Nash had 6 rebounds to Roy Hibbert's 1.

I love using this team sorry to say but if you tried to play sim style with this team you will lose. I only use 3 plays with this team in scheme, they are a good defensive team that can make your opp mad. If you want to know a good site i visit for money plays. now THIS is true... i was drafted there for mycareer, aswell as the pacers being the team i use the most in quick match

when i can see from early that he's gonna have another bum game, i put in manhimi or hansborough for the time being

How does Hibbert suck in this game when you control him yourself?

I haven't really tried out the Pacers this year. I did use him in my Cav association in 2K12 where I signed him to a multi year deal. I threw the ball up to him and it was so easy to score with him.

for me: he doesnt dunk as often as he should... he tends to go into this weird layup animation(misses)
and for one of the tallest players in the league and and a decent rebounder.. he doesnt grab many

he is having a mediocre season overall.. but the attributes he was given in the game dont translate on the court

This pretty much sums it up, and it's hard as h*ll to block shots with him. Roy Hibbert is straight up fool's gold.

Update...

I tried everyone's suggestions, and I can't win in online games consistently with this team. Hell, I just threw my controller at the wall out of frustration for the first time today after losing to a Wizards user who abused the paint for the entire game.

This is going to sound stupid, but this team is TOO balanced for online games. They have good/descent individual ratings, but no "dominating" ratings (JUST found out that Lebron has a 99 INS and 99 LAYUP ratings). Their signature skills basically suck, so this team is NOT going to get many bailout moments either on defense or offense. Their defensive ratings are good, but they're cheapen by the other teams' signature skills or superstars. Even then, the broken blocking mechanics and "ramming" offense makes it impossible to play "effective" or "scary" defense.

Indiana is basically a league team with long minute quarters in which their depth will matter most, or for someone who plays VERY methodically. After experimenting with other teams, I never realized how easy it was for this team to fall behind or lose a lead. Here's to playing slightly above .500 ball until NBA 2K14.

I agree with everything you said ksutton but the bold probably has the most to do with the struggles of poor to good teams against the upper echelon squads. In this game more than any 2k before imo, superstars really matter and can drastically tip the scales in any contest. The fact that Indy is devoid of a true superstar they really have a hard time getting clutch buckets down the stretch while the MIA's, LAL's,LAC's, OKC's,NYC's, of the world have no issues with this.

I routinely use the Sixers online but I struggle with them alot. They have a lot of good young players(similar to Indy) but no true superstar. I either lose close, win close, or get blown out and you have to play almost perfect with teams like those in order to escape with victory. For the 1st time I used LAC against one of my best friends who uses the Heat exclusively. He usually beats me with Heat when I use Philly but I was truly amazed at how much of a difference having a guy like cp3 orchestrating your offense can do in 2k13. My friend was in shock with how dominating CP3 was in game having a similar impact to James on his team. Superstars really do matter.

With regard to Hibbert, if you play Roy on player lock, you can get about 8 rebounds a game and a couple of blocks against the CPU on hall of fame mode, 12 min quarters and simulation sliders.

Getting a double double with him is tough but doable. He tires easy. Granger and George usually rebound better. Mahinmi is definitely a better rebounder than Hibbert and finishes a tad better around the rim than him as well.

Roy is better on the offensive glass.

He can also get you 25 a game on efficient scoring against the right match ups.

Putting both Roy and Mahinmi in the game at the same time helps on defense because they both have high defensive awareness and is sometimes necessary. If I need defensive rebounding, I might just go with Mahinmi.

A key on this is keeping your bigs fresh. Sub them out more often.

But there he is fresh and I got him a clean look at the basket.

Mahimhi

and my bench mob looks like:
Augustin
OJ
Mcguire
Hansbrough
Hibbert

I took G. Hill out because he doesnt have the length to defend against stepback 3pt/transition 3pt lovers online and moved Hibbert to the bench because Mahimhi can finish better down low and doesnt get fatigued so easily. See if you get better results with this lineup.

also dont forget to play with the defensive matchups and coach profile sliders because the CPU is NEVERRRR going to help u out on D against elite online users so adjust accordingly. good luck.

He's still listed as injured though. However, they didn't remove McGuire, so he's still available.

Honestly, I can't even bring myself to use your lineup. I did experiment with starting with McGuire at the 3 and George at the 2. It might be a coincidence, but Hibbert starting rebounding his butt off in my last 3 games after making that change.
