IMO this is a bit harder this year than on past iterations.
Used to you could just throw it up when your man was anywhere near the basket, but this year I find myself having to wait till my man gets a lot closer to the hoop. So try holding off for a sec or so longer and see if it helps out any as well.

Huh. This is strange because I have a much easier time getting the oops to fall this year than in the past. Although sometimes I don't even get it to work because I don't hit the two buttons at the same time correctly. There was a sequence in my Association where I hit 3 oops in four possessions.

it seems like i always miss alley oops when playing online. i use the warriors and i almost always miss with harrison barnes. like he will go through the animation and the pass will be good but the ball just goes flying off the rim.
The controls for the alley-oops have definately taken a step down on the PS3. Was much easier using X and L2 at the same time then X and Square.
I agree. Even on the 360, it was like a second nature to me to throw alley oop before back in 2K11. Now I always have to make sure I press both X and A at the same time correctly.
I like the new controls for Xbox because they are easy to reach and u don't have to move to far, in my offline association I throw about 5 oops a game lol, but it's hard to get a guy streaking to the basket for me, and most of the time they lay it up, have any of u guys noticed how they do a layup on an alley oop when they could have easily dunked it?

One question I have is how do you make sure the alley oop is to a teammate not to yourself? Almost half of the time I try an alley oop my player throws it off the backboard to himself lol

That's one of the downfalls in alley-oops for me this year. I'm okay with the button command alteration but you're right, sometimes intended lobs to teammates end up as self lobs instead. To help combat this, I try to make a point to aim the left trigger away from the backboard (even if my teammate is in the vicinity of the backboard).
Even with the left stick aim alteration though, that doesn't seem to help when I'm trying to throw a lob off the backboard to a trailing teammate. In that case, it seems players will most likely just throw it off the glass to themselves. I think a solution would be to make the self-lob a custom dunk next year, its own category that can fit into one of those 15 signature dunk slots in the edit player menu. That way, JaVale McGee may still be trying to throw it off the window to himself, but I won't have to worry about Andre Miller doing the same. It'd follow the same idea as the spin dunk, where only players with that package can do it.
