How to resign CP3 with the Clippers?

Hi, I'm currently trying to bring CP3 back to the Clippers next season. He is always going for FA so I'm trying to resign him. But with all the expiring contract I can only come up with 16 to 17 Mio $ in cap space.

What are the real Clippers going to do to bring him back? Will they have to trade someone like Deandre Jordan or Caron Butler? I'm just trying to find the most realistic solution. If I keep all the players who have more then 1 year contract then I will not be able to resign CP3. But since I havn't read anything about the Clippers being in need to waive or trade somebody else I'm not sure how they plan to get this working.

    Any ideas

Trade for a pick to free up space.

In Association Mode you want to play for the future sure Caron is okay now but he will not improve as much as Deandre Jordan nor play like Chris Paul.

If you can get a lottery pick you can draft a pretty decent rookie who wont be great year 1 or 2 but will have better potential long term than Caron at the moment. Hell you can even look at the attributes Caron has that you like and bascially draft the same type of player but for less money.

The objective is to PAY Chris Paul enough money to stay. Once you have done that then focus on filling other holes left by a trade.

IRL, the Clippers have CP3's bird rights so they can go over the cap to resign him without having to trade anyone. The game recognizes bird rights, but resigning/trading superstars has been a bug in 2K games for a while now.

Ok I see, so the Clippers wouldn't have any trouble resigning Chris Paul in real life.

In Association mode I will try to get rid of Butler, maybe use a first round pick for a new SF and resign Paul. But I'm always afraid that the rookie contract is already too expensive and there will be no more cap space to sign CP3.

I knew that the Clippers wouldn't re-sign Paul so I signed him and traded him back to them for some scrub they drafted in the 2nd round.

IF you don't sign your draft pick...I do believe they end up in the FA pool. So you can draft someone and then not sign them, then Sign CP3, and then sign the rookie fit here's enough money left over.

Well you draft and negotiate with draft picks well after free agency IIRC.

Since CP3 never really resigns, this is definitely the the best method. May not be realistic, but him signing a max contract with Cleveland is definitely unrealistic. In reality, I can only really see CP3 signing with Dallas or Atlanta and even that is based solely on Dwight Howard's decision. But IMO, he's in the best position to win titles and put up gaudy stats in process.

And the Clippers have his bird rights, so they can give him that extra year and roughly $20 mil.

This is what I do with players like CP3 and Dwight when they choose to resign mid-season but you can't sign them then, or when I'm just pretty sure they're coming back to that team IRL and I want to make sure they do in-game.

In my Franchises CP3 always ends up the Cavs and Dwight almost always ends up with the Magic, because of that i usually cant play year 2 of my association. Any suggestions on how to fix this (Without begin the cavs or magic)?

I'm playing as the '95 Magic and Shaq is entering free agency. He keeps saying that FA may be his best option despite being ecstatic. The team is in the negative (-$14M). I tried to free up cap space by trading Rollins and Royal. Moving Anderson and Scott was tempting, but they're young and can still give me contributions for many years. Should I have traded both of them (along with Royal and Rollins) to make it work aside from editing the player?

The funny thing is that they sign Paul and keep Kyrie as 6th Man. It's really annoying since year 2 is almost always the same in every Association. Jennings stays with the Bucks, Howard goes to the Cavs or the Magic (depending whether or not I sign CP3) and CP3 goes back to NO or to the Cavs. The Cavs also seem to prefer CP3 over Howard even though they have Kyrie already.

What's really bugging me is that the teams with high cap space IRL like Dallas or Atlanta are not doin anything in FA because they either resign their players or do stupid trades (Atlanta got George Hill in a trade and had 3 PG's along with Teague and Harris). Dallas keep resigning players like Carter or Marion, sign DJ Augustin and that's it.

In my association Dwight re-signed with the Lakers as soon as he was able to. He didn't test free agency or anything. In my last association Howard tested FA but resigned with the Lakers.

CP3 usually tests FA and signs with someone other than the Clippers, it sometimes looks like where ever Iggy signs is where he signs. Strangely enough Iggy signed with the Clippers but I wasn't going to wait to see if CP3 resigned with the Clippers and risk someone else getting him and have no way for him to play with the Clippers again so I sign him and traded him back to them.
