Shot Release, O Rebounding, and Help D

I simply cannot stand this anymore. I had the clever idea to take my MyCareer from All-Star mode (where I was having +.600 winning percentage success in my rookie season), to HOF mode about 20 games into my sophomore season.

Maaaaaaaaaan, Offensive rebounding was already an issue, and star CPU players that bull-headedly run straight for the lane was something I found on lower difficulty levels as well, but HOF is ridiculous on Sim. Ridiculous in the sense that it's as if the game is rigged. First of all, I'm on the Nuggets, and I do not see JaVale utilize his Eraser sig skill hardly ever. Add to that the fact that there's really no help D at all when I'm guarding the CPU 2 guard up high, and playing the likes of Kobe, D Wade, Brandon Roy, and those guys is damn near impossible as a starter with 41 minutes without fouling out.

I feel like you can only be expected to play so much on-ball D during one possession, but after my guy misses his shot, ANYBODY from the CPU team will rebound it. After looking at several replays over the two seasons thus far, it's clear that the CPU takes initiative to rush to box out as soon as their teammate gathers for his shot. THIS IS NOT FAIR nor realistic. For the most part, everybody on the floor is just as aware of the exact moment when the shots going up as the next guy, with exceptions of set plays which rarely work unless it involves Brick Wall screeners.

And it just makes no sense to have the CPU getting so many O Rebs, which 9/10 lead to 2nd chance points.

Regarding Shot Release, it infuriates me that the 'perfect' releases are so late, causing a guy 3 inches shorter than me to block me from 3 steps out, without fail. I'm definitely going to change my shot, but I've heard from other people on these boards that shot release is busted for them too, so I'm not exactly sure what to do...I suppose I can really work hard on my Circle button gathers, but those aren't always an option.

I'm just frustrated. I'm sorry if this is poorly composed...just needed to vent. UGH.

I understand your frustration, man. But it's hall of fame level, that's what's gonna happen regularly, especially in my career where I feel the AI is already somewhat busted..

I haven't played my career since release date, can you guys change sliders in there?

Superstar is better than hof, imo. A little cheese but not overbearing like it is on hof.

Can't change sliders, unfortunately. I'm going to have to step it down to Superstar, like finnydot mentioned. I really hate switching difficulties mid-season, but I'm on a 4 game losing streak and 3 games out of the 8th spot before the AS break.

Apparently in the 2nd season, you can't get much player/coach movement done by talking to the GM, either.

Only slider options are default or sim, which I don't like. I would love to throw some slider sets in there to make it more challenging. Not sure why it wasn't an option.

On another point, I feel your pain. HOF is absurd in my player, I fine superstar to be the closest fit to what I'm looking for out of MyPlayer even with the busted AI.

To get some options in 2nd season, go on a losing streak. It'll give you an option eventually to set us some trade targets early in the season. I had this happen 8 games in.

I think they did this to make it easier to compare myplayers across the community but that's just a guess.

Re: Shot Release, O Rebounding, and Help D

              You basically need:
              - Atleast another superstar on your team
              - Your Power Forward and Center to be atleast 7 foot tall, with great rebounding skills and good vertical and atleast 80+ midrange, with potential 3pt ability.
              - All of your backup PF and C's to be atleast 7 foot
              - All of your role players to have high midrange and 3pt shooting
              - Your starting SG and SF to have very good vertical and shooting abilities.
              - A starter player with Defensive Anchor and Floor General sig skills
              - No one on your team that plays the same position as you (so that you never play out of position)
              - Everyone else on your team to be atleast 6'4" to avoid getting blocked.

Your best off taking your MyCareer offline, having a backup file, tanking for 2-3 seasons until you get all of the players you want on your side through trade manipulation and then having a run at the ring.

I assumed as much, but would it really matter in the long run? Blacktop is all the same level anyways. I'd let guys change up sliders so their MyCareer experience is more fun. Just one man's opinion though.

Re: Shot Release, O Rebounding, and Help D

Its not just broken at the top levels. I play All Star (didn't used to have to before this year), and I have Tyson Chandler, David Lee, Thaddeus Young, and Arron Afflalo (scrapper) as starters. I just got out offensive rebounded 25-4, 18-6, and 15-6 in consecutive games. And here's the kicker, I though they were too high before I started those three games, so I turned the slider to 0. That's right, all of those lines were with CPU OReb at 0. Combine this with the CPU getting 18 psychic steals a game and I'm looking at starting the game with the CPU already having taken 25-35 shots. It is absolutely ridiculous. I'm almost ready to be done with this noise. I mean, I want to be challenged, but I feel that the only way I'm rewarded is to cheese my way inside with up and unders and excessive driving with Parker to win, which isn't fun to me at all.

2k already jacked around and lost me as a MLB customer. If they keep this garbage up I will not hesitate to let NBA set on a shelf next year. I don't want crappy looking menus and 14 Jay-Z songs. I don't want shoe customizers, DLC content or guitar hero. I want sliders that actually change something, the absence of hidden super finisher and steal abilities, and for them not to lead off every game by saying, "We've completely redone the physics engine this year."

I know this is a vent, but I mean this is getting out of control. I almost took the disc and snapped it.

Damn I jumped up to Superstar in my second season. I play with the Kings, and between myself, Cousins, and Robinson we won the title pretty easily. Most of the games I played we'd been by 20 or more and in some cases 50+. Got boring winning by that much.

I won the next two games I played, so maybe it was a fluke, but I still shot about 20% higher than the opponent just to win. I actually play OA, so don't really know about my player, I was just trying to say that no matter what the level or game mode, it seems the cheese is prevalent. That 20 extra possesions is just garbage, and the fact that I overcome it is even more garbage. I could be playing at a higher difficulty right now, because my shot selection on offense is excellent, but thanks to ORebs and psychic steals, I'm on All Star.
