Re: raptors association
and another possible trade could be depending how you feel about him try and pick up rodrigue beubois(sp) he plays point for the mavs he is a 6"2 point guard who plays defense and has a LONG wingspan. and would be excellent coming off the bench for when you need to rest lowry.Comment

Re: raptors association
An alternative strategy would be to make a deal with Utah to acquire one of their bigs (preferably Favors). The concept is the same as the Gasol trade, except that you'd be building long term instead of short term.
In real life, I fear Gasol is hurt more then the general public knows, and it might hurt whichever team trades for him in the future.Comment

In real life... Gasol Fits toronto's Market. International City looking for an International Big man That can Rebound and is a Terrific post player. Who on the raptors can play Excellent in the post? hmmm Mr. Basketball tell me that one. Funny But true story last night I Used lakers vs Brooklyn Nets. Won the game and Gasol Scored 28 only missing 3 shots. just quick post with gasol and when he gets deep in the paint who is going to stop him?? Trust me Favors is a stupid aquistion because You'd be better off getting milsap who btw the Jazz are looking to possibly trade. Pick up favors its like re adding Ed davis. Trust me Gasol Is worth it and is that 1 missing piece that will get you over the hump.An alternative strategy would be to make a deal with Utah to acquire one of their bigs (preferably Favors). I agree with what you say here; everything fits really well... all except his age and future contract obligations and demands. Unless you are renting him for a run to the finals, I just do not think his positives (which you point out) outweigh his drawbacks.
Milsap might very well be be "better" ... that is something the OP may decide on his own. I disagree that Favors is another Ed Davis; I think his development is further along then Davis' is.
In the short run, I agree that Gasol is worth it (putting aside the injury concerns I have) but I think he is only going to get them into the play-offs at best and not into the finals over teams ranging from the Pacers to the Heat.
I don't think Gasol's negatives are worth a 5th place seed.Comment

But Measuring up toronto to the Power houses in the east. Not better than Miami (Bosh wade Lebron), Knicks - Melo + company. Indiana + a healthy Danny Granger... Bulls - A healthy Rose. Boston - healthy team. I think raptors making 5-8 is realistic in my opinion.I agree with what you say here; everything fits really well... all except his age and future contract obligations and demands. Yes Gasol is Old and has Age But He can be that Mentor for Amir Johnson and He actually fits in quite well. Injury concerns (its a video game at the end of the day) and Gasol will then not have a big contract and maybe he can try and sign a free agent big man or filll whatever needs he has through the draft. I just think the raptor core should be. Gay, Derozan, Johnson. x factors lowry and ross.Comment

It works, but the raptors lose big.
I don't know if the OP would want this, but if he really wanted the team to be athletic, make a play for Josh Smith.Last edited by Phreezy P; 02-06-2013, 09:20 PM.Comment
