Help With Blacktop...?
I REALLY need some help with Blacktop. I play with 2 buddies. An 81 overall PG and an 89 overall PF. I'm an 83 overall SG. How do you stop guys on defense? there can be 3 of us in the hole and they'll just magically drive by us and dunk on us. The PF is a blocker / rebounder but his guy never blocks the shot, just jumps straight up while the guy dunks. How do you stop guys on the inside?!Tags: None -

Spam that X button, you CANNOT block dunks, and if there is a slight possibility that you can block dunks, it's rare.
From my 150ish games (And more in private with 99 overall friends.) you just have try to stay near the paint but not to far from the 3 since everyone loves to shoot those, if you do that then when they try to drive you can pressure them and sometimes (Not all.) You'll stop their dunk animation and they can miss.
Another way to hold them from dunking is try to get a few 2's early so they feel like they need to take bad shots in order to come back and win. Sometimes people don't care and will just keep on abusing the dunks, but it could help out.
In the end though, blocking will not help you much or at all (Only on Jumpshots if you time them right or layups.) and rebounding everyone has to crash the boards instead of hoping your PF can rebound them all (If you do that)
Ally-oops are an abuse too, but if you know they are trying for one it's easy to stop by running into the guy you are defending.Last edited by Chi; 02-16-2013, 05:52 PM.Say "Oooooh." -

Awesome tips. Gonna try these out and see what happensSpam that X button, you CANNOT block dunks, and if there is a slight possibility that you can block dunks, it's rare.

Re: Help With Blacktop...?
I'm sorry if i'm not a great help, lol I think I was stating some obvious stuff but yeah what i've learned is that most people will tend to try and do CrossOvers to show off, so if you or your friends play off of them (Which you should, but not that far off so you can guard the 2 point shot) you can be ready to defend a dunk easier compared to if he gets by you then it's mostly a unblockable dunk.
And as I said the X button with active hands helps or pick pocket, which ever is the one for stealing the ball more when defending layups...That is a must sometimes as while it is a slight abuse it's self, has helped me and my friends in the past. - I think you can also strip the ball even if they have started to do the dunking animation so it's a good help.Say "Oooooh."Comment

Yes, I was going to say... 'Active Hands' being equipped while you go for strips AS they go up for dunks I have found very effective... Several of my videos have shown this.Originally posted by Chi;2044718742

Re: Help With Blacktop...?
I had this problem for months, I read a recent thread on here about tendencies, and I fixed my problem. My 7'0 SF couldn't do standing dunks, couldn't dunk off alley oops, couldn't Posterize and wouldn't Finish. I played about 7-8 MyCareer games and the only thing I really did was drive for dunks and lay-ups, I got my tendencies up and now I'm dunking on people with ease.
I still have to get my tendencies up a little more because there's no reason why I'm getting dunks blocked while using Finisher, Posterizer, and Highlight Film and these 5 foot PG's dunk on everyone.Comment

Re: Help With Blacktop...?
That's not a tendency issue my dude. Blocking shots is a lot easier this year. Posterizer works when one person is under the basket but nobody dunks on 3 people all the time. It's possible, but usually that's when you get blocked. Good luck doing a lot of standing dunks as well because as soon as you catch the ball you have a ton of guys swatting at the ball in your hands. But my suggestion is playing with a good pg and setting a lot of picks and keep cutting to the basket.Comment

Re: Help With Blacktop...?
I already fixed my problem by playing more Career games, so yes it was a tendency issue. I'm dunking harder than the cheese in 2K13, no more switching into layups and soft dunks when my energy is drained. Shut out a couple of teams having my own personal dunk contest. That's not a tendency issue my dude. Blocking shots is a lot easier this year. Being maxed out is overrated. My players is not maxed out on purpose, and I do just fine on defense.Comment

Re: Help With Blacktop...?
I felt the need to chime in on this issue since yesterday was one of the worst days that I've had on the blacktop. There are too many players not understanding how to stop the alley-oop. Bumping into an opponent will only work if you make good body contact that actually tangles them up with you. The problem that I see is that many players do not make good body contact and, quite frankly, this is okay. Upon making body contact and not before, use intense-D as a better method of disrupting the play. The slightest contact with intense-D will disrupt the alley-oop almost all the time. Also, if you're not using intense-D or attempting to block a jump shot, you're giving the shooter a much higher chance of making the shot! Simply running towards a shooter does not penalize the shot enough to be called defense!Comment
