    How exactly does real player % work?


    I was trying to adjust the all star simulation sliders and the cpu was still always shooting over 50% against me so i just gave up and went to pro. This is with user timing though.

    How does real player % work? Does the release of your shot not matter at all? Does it affect the cpu? Does contesting and all that still affect the shot?

    I like user timing because I want to be rewarded for hitting an open shot with perfect release. Does real player % work like that at all, or is it like you get a 45% chance of making any shot or whatever? Thanks!

    I made the switch to real player % with simulation settings a few months ago and I'm never going back to user timing. The release of your shot doesn't seem to matter as much as the quality of the shot you're taking.

    I'll answer your other question using Steph Curry and his 45% 3-point shooting as an example. It's not that every three you take has a 45% chance of going in, it's that the base odds of you making an "average three" (somewhat contested by defender) would be 45%. If you were to take a wide open three with Curry the odds raise; if you take a closely contested three with Curry the odds dip. I know I used 45% as the example (as I think it is easier to explain), but it's actually more about the player's rating than his actual shooting percentage. Curry's 90 three point rating equates to roughly 45% base odds.

    I also recommend playing with real player % on free throws too. Seems more realistic because your odds of making free throws truly depend on player ratings. You won't see Dwight Howard shooting 90% just because you mastered his free throw release.

    Edit: I also forget to mention that yes, real player % also affects the CPU's shooting. You'll notice the effects especially when a CPU player drives into traffic and doesn't have high shoot-in-traffic ratings. He'll likely miss when his shots are contested.
